What Do You Leave Behing At Curbco?

That's funny, I've been meaning to start a thread about what my fellow Curbco shoppers leave behind. When I started and was using a Chev Lumina, I would collect any little piece of metal I came across, nothing left behind, not a pop can or hinge, etc. Now I have the Montana and I find myself looking over things like umbrella strollers, folding chairs (not aluminum ones), and other small items that I think aren't worth stopping for when I could find a tv, computer or even a stove around the corner that might not be there in 5 minutes.

So...what do you leave behind, if anything, and why?

    Good Question to pose.

Basically I have a full size pickup and don't go on a CurbCo route anymore. So if I spot something on the side of the road.. I pick it clean. Monday on my way home I spotted a sink from down the block.. made my way to the pile. Once I arrived I found 3 steel sinks all with faucets attached, an old Chevy Water pump, Folding beach chair (steel), few random slugs of iron, some electronics (DVD player and VCR) and it hardly took up a bit of room in my truck bed. Unloaded when I got home and broke it all down. Truck Bed Empty

Yesterday (Tuesday) while leaving work I spotted 2 pairs of crutches and an old lamp at one curb. Snagged both.. broke it all down and had any of the garbage off of them in my own trash already.

Truck Bed is empty again. Ready for that next Curbco Score!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

I guess I see money not items prices just float through my mind and will be like sweet $5 so I leave nothing in the sense of things worth scrap value I do leave things I wish I had the space to keep like good couches and things for resale that takes time to sell but every day things amaze me in this business.
I now have a fun game with the servers at a village inn I get coffee at and use as a office every day. all month long I save the money I find in couches pockets purses ect. and turn it in to guess a today for a extra tip which in fact I use all of this to pay for coffee and tip every day sometimes on good days I will leave a $10 tip on $2 coffee

I don't have much room to pile up the big things at my place. So if it's not aluminum, or electrical, then it might get left behind.

Televisions and computer monitors, and vaccuums. Just no easy way to get rid of them, so they all get left behind. Other than that pretty well all scrap is fair game

It sure is interesting how our different yards/situations dictate what we value as scrap. My yard takes CRTs (stripped) and vacuums, so I'd take them all night long, TVs and towers are actually my faves because they take up the least room for the most profit. I won't turn down a big pile of steel but it can be a b*tch to load and unload around the seats in the van (the 2 I don't take out).

if I find a trash bin with enough space, I leave behind stripped crts, monitors, vacuums, and bags of broken plastic.

I *used* to pick up old glass shower doors and tables with aluminum frames (if it had the glass in it still) but no more, don't want to deal with the glass as I have too much garbage from the other scrap to deal with. Plus, my luck the dang glass would break in my truck or driveway moving it I just have that kind of luck lol.

About the only thing I leave behind is large (32 inch and larger) CRT's and... well... that's about it. I scrap in a 2004 F150 so anything that the wife or I see that is metal or can be re sold or kids toys that others we know can use, it all gets picked up. I don't care if it's a table top lamp or a double door fridge, it's mine! There is a lot of competition around me, others must know something I don't cause I will see 6-7 other trucks on trash night with large items stacked up over the top of their trucks, and I'm lucky if I get anything most nights. So anything I find and can physically move, I get. Wife still gets upset when I mention the fire proof shop rag bin (around 425 pounds) I had her help me load... Thought I was gonna pass out, but we got it loaded.

There was a time I passed up small items, if it didn't weigh 10 pounds or more, or if the chord was cut something like that I would leave it. Not anymore.

Yeah, I pass on crt tv's and monitors. They gotta pay me to take that crap. Got to many tv's as it is. I'll pass on certain vacuums too. Just depends on my mood for those.

I scrapped one heavy projection tv so far. If there's nothing else I'll put one in the truck, but the weight and space it occupies makes it a low priority.

All the roads by me are 55mph so I frequently pass on small stuff. All depends on my mood and if there are cars behind me.

Crt TV's/monitors, because no one takes the tubes around here....large glass tables/shower doors, because I WILL end up busting them were I don't intend to bust them...potty chairs, just because .

I take every tv and monitor I can. Easy pickins and easy disposal for me. If I can't stop for it at that moment I know it'll still be there on my way back or even tomorrow

That's called illegal dumping. Which is illegal, and we don't condone stuff like that on here. Also, I know if I woke up and found my trash can with a stripped CRT in it, I would be pretty upset. If you can't get rid of your own trash, don't pick up the scrap that produces it.

I had a full load when I saw a charcoal grill. I noted the location but ran out of endurance and time. I saw a water heater down the street after loading up for a trip to the yard. Again, no endurance left for extra work.
