    the few yards I use in the albany ny area don't care if the item has freon in it or not.

    You specifically mentioned Wietsmans. I know for a fact that when I was there in June, the bottom of the slip still had a statement about recovery.

    Seriously doubt Adam is going to risk the empire that he is building.

    And that’s the yard where I had to fill out and sign the agreement about Freon recovery. I saw their new compressor my the metal shop too

    Yea its actually been a while since I brought an item to weitsman with freon in it so they might be strickter now.i usually go to a place called Kelman in cohoes ny and they don't care at all if stuff still has freon in it.

    I've never heard of EPA showing up at a yard for appliances...just sayin

    They actually did at one yard I go to.........For several years they didn't care if Freon was removed or not.......Went last week and they took my fridge but said from now on it had to be evacuated........They were inspected by someone (NOT SURE IF IT WAS EPA)

    well I guess everything I usually bring to scrap yards is broken down anyway so they usually don't say anything.maybe they just let me go that one day cause I had so much stuff.

    I have yet to go to Kelman's for anything but I may make a trip soon...how are their prices?

    I like kelmans.their prices are pretty good.kelmans prices are right around the same as weitsman and they aren't too picky.for example there is a big yard down the street from Kelman called freedman and they don't take any chain link fence.
