Back of my truck.

So here is the first of what I hope will be many loads that ride in the back of my truck.




Not a lot to look at, nothing really cool just some bits and bobs, a few odds stuff, a computer shell or 4. I looked at it and was thinking "meh".
At the least I would get to meet the people at the yard I'm going to use and get some gas money for the trip, only a 22 min drive so no real loss.

Get to the yard learn what to do and head to the shred drop off point. Seen some cool stuff out in the piles thinking like a real scrapper going "thy forgot to cut the cord there, O thy take tv's thats cool...thy did not take the copper out of it!" Learn a bit about my yard, like printers can have the plastic on it! Now if I can only get the gold contacts with out a hammer or 15 min of break down. Any way.

I drive back on the scale and look at my "empty" read out, not to bad got my slip took it in side and got this,


I was like "WHAT THE F%^&?"
It was just small bits and stuff. I know I had some heavy stuff in there, like lots of the dividers you find in metal cabinets but 600# of stuff! Just had to say there was a smile on my face.

So there you all go my first run no longer a scrap virgin, sold my self and I liked it!

Congratulations on your first load , the bug will just get stronger now, happy scraping

What will you do when you get that first dent. Listen the bug will kick in and your truck will get a look . As it happens you will start saying - Money - Money - Money
Get a Trailer before it's too late . Use the bed for safe items .
I have a feeling a used horse trailer might be the ticket

Scrap always gets the best of any auto

Cool!! The only place around here that takes steel is building a state-of-the-art yard about 2.5 miles from my house instead of driving a dozen miles across the metro. And because most of my steel is smaller stuff and I do trunk loads, it will save me some gas money!! I might even give up my current non-ferrous metal place that's about 8 miles from the house although they're cool dudes with quirky humor (he uses a lot of $2 bills and 50 cent pieces). Have fun!!

Seen a few smaller ones around town, on the back of other scraper trucks
All that stuff that was in the first load was bits and bobs left over when I broke stuff down. The truck I got has more then its share of dings in it already, got it from a friend (still paying on it) and he was mean to it as well. Tho I did cringe sliding a bit of rusted chain link fence over it. But ya a trailer is something I plan to get down the road, if "curb hunting" starts to pay off better or if I get to making more money and can start looking at lots around me. I know thy pay for them selfs, but I don't have the hard cash in hand... not yet.

@DakotaRog: I got a yard in town but thy are way lower price in what I get my hands on mostly. With other scrappers here I hide in the back and pick up the electronic scrap thy don't want. The yard gives crap prices for low grade board, electric motors, even there shred was not worth the time. I may use then for selling copper when I stock it up a lot more may be even aluminum. So I hope your new place is better then mine. I would love to save the gas but the prices I'm getting at the one I'm going is covering that and a little bit more.

Think how much more you could get in that truck if it didn't have that tool box.

@Happyscrapper: to remove the toolbox I need the following:

1. Written document to my wife asking to remove the item from the truck with intent to replace and restore said removed item. (Truck is her "I want this" gift)
2. A young priest and a old priest to bless the family so that any demons I call in the cursing storm I will more then likely be in, any one who has drilled holes to only find out it was a little
off knows what I'm talking about, will not hurt or stay with the family.
3. The removal of all hammers or bashing tools, see item number two.
4. Willpower to not just say "F&^% it I'm leaving it in!"

If I run into something that I can't fit in the first load it will be saved for the next trip, I have yet to find any thing that I could not fit in "YET". My last big pick up was a large projection TV, sadly it was broken power would just not stay on. A larger window AC, also broken but still has freon in it.
(speaking of Freon if any one around southern Arkansas or northern Louisiana can drain let me know! Hell I would trade them for stuff I can work with.)
And a few boxes with dish TV boxes and a surround sound missing a few wires. So with my little tail room I'm ok for now. Yes I will kick my self if I miss something but you know we all start from some were and we all lost a item or two.

Well load number 2 was dropped off this weekend, not a lot on it but it did put $90 into my pocket so can't complain.
First off a big motor from a washing machine, sad to say the wire was aluminum.




Next up a few pounds of copper baring, mostly the big from tvs and two or so pool pumps.




The clean aluminum I got, heat sinks, few parts and you can tell what the one on top was from. Next to it is some low grad I'm still picking chips and others stuff off.




Some small pounds of copper, this was the main item for the trip, using the cash to buy some cards to pass around town.


My hand me down boots showing, steel toe have held up to a lot of heavy items resting on them.



And last some motors, the top box stayed home. I'm still picking out easy copper from them. Going to take them on my next trip, the yard I am using pays motor price so I want to take a sample to the yard in town and see what thy give.




Did not get the back of the truck this time but in total it was holding 280# of shred, so here is another pic it's not in the back of my truck here is my spot in the shed!

Its been slow but I hope with the new cards I will be getting, today may be depending on how long thy take, I will be able to drum up some more stuff!

Will also try to get some pics today, had a lady message my wife on face book about picking up some stuff left over from her yard sale
