Congrats on the job. Hopefully you will still be able to scrap on the side and it wont be a conflict of interest.
I have to say congrats and I am impressed with your yard for recognizing your intelligence and determination. You may find you have a good boss. Best of luck, Mike.
Congrats N/A. It would be neat if you started a thread of do's and do not's in a scrap yard. It would be worth a Stickey. Keep us posted.
Congrats ..
Instead of scrapping at night see if you can just buy scrap you know how to make more money on.
The thing I would ask for is to look though the #2 Cu for silver contacts. lots go in as#2 and they never get sorted.

Congrats!!! I tried hitting the thanks button 400 times....didn't work... Lol. You'll be a great asset to that yard I'm sure!

$9.00 an hour plus he said since I'm working for him and its Ok to still turn scrap in there ( that was my biggest concern as an employee) he would pay me higher than anyone around!!
he said we are a small family type yard and take care of our own and he didn't want me losing out on the scrap money I make outside of working there.
I am the first female he has hired (he also called the guys at their subsidiary yard and they said YAYYYY good to hire her!!) and he said that the customers are going to love seeing a gal working there but he's concerned for my safety. As far as that goes he said I can bail AL but he doesn't want me cutting it?? Lol, that didn't make any sense but hey, I am not making waves right now and IMO I can show him I CAN do the job he's worried about!!
He will supply gloves and other safety training. Once they show me all the different ''areas'' they will train me on the tow motor.
My first thought was, ''OMG, what if I dump a bin into the roll off? Am I fired or do they make me climb in with a chain?'' lmao. I mean, how different can this be from driving Sato's and front end loaders? Probably easier right?
Omg, I am soooooo excited!!!!!!!! Not nervous at all since I know the ''job'' and all the folks and can't wait to learn what I do not know!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very good!
Hope you realize though that you will probably not be able to sell there anymore, I hope for your sake that there is another yard close by that pays just as good or better.
edit sorry didn't see that
SDAve, I might not have taken the job if that was a condition, I've been going there for over 5 years and that was the first thing I asked about!! Lol, priorities lol.
I know some of the workers around here sell to other yards that I go to, it is kinda funny to see them as a customer at another yard. Most yards are afraid of theft of their own material and then having to buy it back again.
As you learn while working there, if there is anything that can you share with us, that will help us do a better job, we will be all ears. Congratulations!
