Haven't been online much, limited internet connection. Been busy on a couple different gigs. Went up to a friend's property up in the hills doing some land clearing (blackberries). Got a few things from him, an old microwave, digital satellite receiver dated 2007, picked up a cast iron tub I left there a while back that I previously removed out of my ex dog groomer van. And a working pellet gun with ammo and accessories, keeping that for pest control around the house, I live in the city so can't shoot the dubba deuce.



Yesterday I helped some friends move into their new home on an island. Removed the old washer dryer set that came with their new house to make room for their nicer set. Haven't taken possession of that washer dryer set yet but gonna ask them to give them to me assuming they both will fit in the back of my Brat. Also they live a good 35 miles from me so I hope the haul will be worth it, I get maybe 25 mpg if I'm nice to the skinny pedal.

I'm going to go back up to my friend in the hills to do more land cleaning work and hopefully score more scrap, like the dish that goes with the receiver.

The tub SHOULD be iron, right? It's thin and I can pick it up myself but everybody is telling me it is. It's a regular type of modern bathtub that gets built in, not a big claw foot type.

Check it with a magnet, if you can pick it up pretty easily by yourself it may not be iron.

Well the tub appears to be steel from the way the rust looks. Hoping it would be sheet iron, oh well. I have a pile of iron consisting of an engine block, a few exhaust manifolds, brake rotors, clutch master cylinder (I'm a backyard mechanic). Also have an old contractor air compressor that I got from my old employer for free, still works after being left outside for half a decade, plus we always had it outside in the weather when working rain or shine. Been thinking of stripping it or fixing it. It has alot of iron, some copper and brass, and a big motor.

I have a paint sprayer that lists at a big box home improvement store for $480 new, pretty well used but works somewhat, needs a good cleaning, and a gas powered pressure washer that may have engine problems, not sure yet. It has a Honds GC 5 hp OHC, pretty sweet engine. Might fix them or scrap, depends on the condition. Most of the stuff I have is considered material until I load it up and haul it in.

Keep the compressor. Handy things. An sell really well if you decide to resell it.

Yeah air compressors are very handy, air tools are worthless without them. I also have another compressor, a homeowners model five gallon tank, takes forever to get up to 120 psi because the piston and cylinder sleeve are torn up. Easy to fix though.

I have an RV roof mounted A/C unit that doesn't blow cold and doesn't warm much at all, thinking of adding that to the next load(s) due to be hauled in, mostly because I don't really need an A/C for my van (rv conversion). I put it on CL a few times but no bites.

Tore down the microwave and paint sprayer yesterday. Got some copper, brass, cast aluminum, stainless and regular steel. I'm keeping the turntable motor, it's 21 volts but 24 should work fine. Also plan to get the magnets from the magnetron. The paint sprayer motor has permanent magnets, gonna keep those too. Also got some circuit boards too, the sprayer board showing some nice color (gold prospector hobbiest). Going to start saving e-waste, every little thing counts. I'm hoarding the aluminum, been meaning to build a foundry.

Scored two lawnmowers today, was worried both wouldn't fit in the back of my truck but I managed. One should run but needs a couple things, the other supposedly has blown motor.

Just picked up a little tabletop type charcoal grill shell next to the dumpster at the store around the corner from my house. I have so many grills it reminds me of an episode of the Trailer Park Boys when Ricky and co. were lifting grills off apt. balconies and reselling them.

Kicking myself for not asking the storekeep about the newspaper vending machine next to the dumpster, was there yesterday, gone today, either the garbageman picked it up or a scrapper swiped it. There's some competition around here and they all have full size pickups and I got the only subcompact 4x4 truck ever imported to the US.

Brought in a load of al cans, sheet al and copper. $.35 a lb for the al and $1.70 for #1 cu, stiffed me on the cu by 1 lb. Normally I'd take the copper elsewhere but needed gas money to get to the better yard(s). I'll only use that yard for al from now on. Lousy $23. I'm gonna buy a couple beers too.
