    Don't overlook Facebook

Saw a 94 Chev Lumina Euro on Facebook for $100 and I was the first responder. Engine is shot and battery missing but the CC is intact and the car has 4 new tires on alum. rims. Tires have 500 miles on them. Seller is a lifelong friend and FB 'friend', but he put it out to the public and I happened to be online that day. Got it home. Sometimes we just have to brag a little....Praise from whom all blessings flow !!

No, there's no ''trick'' to buying from Facebook. Just have to be in the right place at the right time.

I have a few people that know that I collect scrap and they tag me when people post that they have scrap metal for pickup. I did have a few contact me directly after being tagged on posts.

Hey, if you make some money off of it, it's worth it

Every little bit adds up....if I remember right, I had over $100 worth of brass from a 5 gallon bucket. I regularly find gas barrel (farm) hoses in my dealings and there's hard aluminum and brass on each one.

The non working ac works but has a issue when trying to kick the ac on after the fan runs. I told the wife I was gonna fix it and sell but she said just take it apart and scrap it.

I replied to an ad on a Facebook swap shop site to sell a headlight for this Lumina and had another guy offer to buy the whole thing. He has front end damage on his Lumina and wants it for the body and tires. Offered it to him for $350 and I won't have to deal with selling piece by piece plus the carcass. He'll come get it.
An easy $250 profit plus helping out a young couple. I've got other work to do.

Just picked up a freezer on Friday. Got a message via fb today for a couple computers/monitors/keyboard's and a few tv's. It led to a full truck load with a possibility of more when he gets closer to selling his house. I have another fridge and some other scrap to pick up tomorrow. All of this from Facebook.

Three can keep a secret if two are dead. - Likely the one not dead.

Sirscrapalot - Don't worry, I only use FB when my wife makes me.

Facebook came through again......a couple months ago a friend at Radioshack gave me a load of escrap and today I brought home load 2 and 3 of the same stuff. I'm trying to teach this old dog new tricks concerning escrap. My wife still thinks it's called E.S. Crap but she'll be happy when we turn it into something green.

Where's the drool smiley??? I think I'd either have to construct a small building out at the bro's with that lot or start renting a storage locker. And then I'd run out of time...

Some of that stuff isn't worth drooling over, DakotaRog. Alot will be ''filler'' in my next few cars/vans. Presently I'm taking apart the computers, saving the cords (there are boxes full of them) and the printers and monitors will be shred. Now on second thought, maybe I'll see if my scrapyard will let me weigh them in as shred and stuff them in THEIR cars. Yeah, that would be nice. That might cost me a few donuts !!!

Fortunately I do have a rather large machine shed on the farm to store this stuff.
