I didn't do too bad, was hoping I did better. I did two small clean out jobs the past two weeks and I accumulated some shred, aluminum and some copper.
580 lbs of Light Iron @ $2.31lb: $59.81
16lbs of #2 ins copper wire @ 1.05lb: $16.80
didn't have enough almunimum for the scale to even register :/
Total: $76.61
So what do you guys think?

Not bad, really, for a first trip. It just keeps getting better. Nobody starts at the top. Pretty soon, you'll be saying "Anything under $100 is a wasted trip".

Are you sure that light iron is 2.31 p/lb? Is that the same as shred?

I think you got paid about 11 cent a lb for the shred, which isn't bad, not 2.31 a lb. Save the alum. till you have a decent amount for the scale to weigh. On the low end the scale may not be close to accurate.580 lbs of Light Iron @ $2.31lb: $59.81

I usually accumulate stuff, teardown and separate. Once I get a full load of shred I take it in. Usually a few loads of shred later I have accumulated enough non-ferrous to make a load. My yard the shred is one way, non-ferrous is the other so I hardly ever have both in one trip, just takes too long.

You are getting paid more per lb for shred than I am! Nice score for 2 clean outs worth!

Yeah it is a start, I hope to get better in the coming weeks. I learned stuff today that will help me in future trips lol
I have to sort the metals better, it took me awhile to unload because all of the small shred I had. I have to get some more bins.

WELL the positive - is you see with a little effort to save some metals you get some real pocket money .
Some citizen's not in the know still think I goto the yard for like $12
still after my thousands of metal yard trips I still am amazed as the first day
when I get handed money's from $ 50 to $ 500
$500 - thats just child's play for others
