Bought some stuff in a moving sale, not sure if going to be very profitable.

    Hey everyone at scrapmetalforum!

Excuse me if I'm posting what I'm finding too frequently, what I have to say about scrap and garbage picking falls usually upon deaf ears in my social circle. Let me know if I can do anything to improve my posts!

    So here it goes.

I'm hanging out with my friend after class today browsing the classifieds. The ad read " Full contents of house being cleared".

My friend calls, We head over right away.

"moving and not taking anything. Most items are older but still good. Lots free, just come take away. All others very cheap. House needs to be clear by April 15th. Call 61%-#30-2@4! For address and arrange viewing. Do not email !!! Only call. "

She was selling the house because the property tax was too high and she could no longer afford it, the house is going to be knocked down and a new development is going in so i gotta make sure to keep in touch during the move-out/demo project to get some of that stuff.

Most of the stuff she was giving away for free was like really crappy plates and dishes and couches.

I paid for some stuff and got some for free - here it goes

    1x All-in-one phono / tape deck / receiver - $5

1x box of knives ( I'm talking about 100 kitchen knives and various sharpeners) - $15

1X box of 8-track tapes ( to sell with my 8-track player I found in the trash last week) -$2

4x meat grinders (one is for tomatoes I'm told) -$5

1x box of metal boxes and racks and stuff (25lbs) -free

    1x crt tv -free

1x 10 foot extra thick homemade jumper cables - free

1x scrap oil furnace (will post pics) -free

1x counter top deep fryer - free

    1x crock pot - free

Then I ask if she has any lawn mowers or anything - she says yeah I have 3 snow blowers.

i checked them out, ancient made in america tecumseh's like real anicent collector's piece type things. 1 seized, 1 "working last year" and 1 "needs a belt"

I ended up settling on $90 for them $40 on the spot $50 on pick-up, not sure if I got a good deal or not. definitely not if I'm selling for scrap, but there might be something good here - will definitely post pics as soon as I can manage to get them back to my place.

so paid $167, made friends with an old italian woman, and made a questionable investment in some junk

sometimes I wonder what I'm doing with myself, $1 knives anyone?

here's the link to the album I made on imgur - http://imgur.com/a/1Jw4Y#Gg5R8kB I only took pictures of what I had inside as we got about 8 inches of snow last night - will upload the rest as I clear the driveway.

Edit: I uploaded some pictures of the haul today, will get pictures of the snow blowers and the property when I pick them up

Check it all, then double check it all again for better then scrap value. Little old ladies like to hold on to things.

    Good luck!~

You have quite a few things that should be way more than scrap. If those jumper cables are shot, be sure and strip them.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Waste Oil Heaters go for a pretty penny in Ohio.....List it on Craigslist and watch it fly. I'd put $2-300 on it if it has a fan, and is decent size! then everything else is MAD PROFIT!

look through the knives for better brands, maybe list em in lots or 3 or 5
meatgrinders would sell on ebay. When you go back look for accessories to those, especially the different size end plates where the meat comes out. The end unscrews and other ones slip in there. I'd list em separately, as is (for parts/repair)

It is an old school oil heater, can probably run on diesel, waste oil, heating oil and many other things. Looks like it just needs a chimney and a tank.

I uploaded some pics to the "moving sale" album
