I know as many as yourselves that after Christmas it's out with the old and in with new. I am trying to beat that deadline of December 26th when everyone returns all the "broken" product. It's next to impossible to coordinate just my store for this process because it is so busy. Maybe by next year I could have all 9 stores in the district going. Sorry, day dreaming.

erewen is right about documenting our progression. I had told my father how much I love this forum because of the useful information, videos and especially feedback from the members. I haven't found another website that was so dynamic as this one. That's a lie. After I found this website I stopped looking.

I met with an attorney the week before to create a LLC and today I received my final sign papers. Not happy with how much money I am burning through. He did give me a break on the bill by talking to a friend of his who is a loan manager at a bank in New Orleans. The loan manager has to convince the bank board to approve a potential client on a couple million for upgrading a scrap yard. The loan manager was clueless about recycling and anything to do with metals. I gave him the cliff notes version of the business, this website and Wikipedia links to definitions of big words such as ferrous and nonferrous. He was very humble and it was very cool to think that a guy that high up would listen to me talk for an hour.

I feel like such a fool when I look back at my earlier posts and read the steps I have taken to get where I am now. Those times felt like such a barrier, that really was just the easy part of where I am heading now.
Well, talk about leaps and bounds. I was at work the other day and we had a scheduled visit from upper management. I decide that today is the day I carry on my dream of becoming my company's go to guy for recycling. I found the man, he is the Regional Director of Operations Mgmnt. I figured I had to talk to him in regards to starting a recycling program for the store in regards to broken returns of small appliances, electronics and anything that would make this deal swing. I asked if I could talk to him after work about an idea that could benefit the company. He said he would swing back through my department before they left for another store.
The visit had ended and he came back by himself and gave me his full attention. I have pitched this idea a thousand times already. When I am driving to work, walking the dogs, sitting in traffic or any other time I had to hone in this perfect pitch. Anything to keep them from saying "no". We talked for almost 30 minutes and I learned that he and a group of higher ups have been discussing this issue for about six months now. The company also had been approached by a couple recycling companies for the same thing I was shooting for. He said that there wouldn't be a decision made anytime soon. He said he would discuss this idea of using me in nine stores as a test market. It was very hard to hide my excitement.
He did make two very important points.
First, he said that anytime the company needs a toilet fixed, floor boards replaced, or lights rewired they call one company that provides contractors to complete the job. If they have a problem with the work that was done. That go to guy/company makes it right no matter what. He wanted to understand that analogy for if they decide to try me out for a test market and it goes well. Then maybe, just maybe, eventually, I can become that go to guy for the entire company.
Second, he said repeatedly, that this is the right thing to do. Recycle. Be Eco-friendly.

You are a very progressive guy. You planned for the eventuality of being able to talk to a higher-up and when the opportunity came along you were able to make you pitch--no stage fright here!
I hope you get the chance to be able to show them what you can do!!
Making that contact with a higher-up loan manager is another good contact to keep cultivating. Not so much for getting loans, but he will have his finger on the pulse of businesses that may be going under. You could be the guy he thinks about when having to clean out a business so the building can be sold. You need to call him every few months or even buy him lunch once in a while.
The future's so bright you gotta wear shades!!

Finally!!! It took a year to get a final answer from this company about recycling. It was "NO". They said they have other companies that are interested and are seeking to find a suitable company. I am glad I kinda of didn't get the account because they wanted me to cover 9 stores and one store is a hour away. Its a very small store with little waste and would kill my budget because of fuel and mileage.
Their answer was complied of a lot of BS and a reconsideration of can you recycle our chemical waste. They pay out $300 to $400 for ever pick up of chemical waste. They said that if recycling their trash cut down on their garbage pick ups by a certain percentage then it would be worth to do.
What a joke…If I had a nickel for every BS answer…I love getting drawn out, under explained answers from higher mgmt. Oh well.

You will get the next one , keep at it and thanks for updating .

Renting stuff is just inefficient in all ways. If you have welding abilities and some sheet and random metals laying around u can make a bin. This is really time consuming but renting a bin is just not worth it, it's like renting an apartment, your not getting anything in the long run just loosing $

Thanks! It's hard to find a cheap bin. I have a buddy who would hook me up. Thanks again for the idea.
