Some only have one class of copper where others have multiple.
They will pay more for the better stuff. Someone's getting into your back pocket.

This also differs from yard to yard, but around here no.1 generally pays .10 - .15 p/lb. more than no.2 does.

The yards I use pay for three grades of copper #1= 3.10#, #2=2.90#, sheet copper, I don't know the price on this because I don't sell sheet copper very offen.

Most good yards will give you more for bare bright copper. I am not a scrap yard, but a scrap wire buyer, and even we pay $.15 more for bare bright.

This is something a wire buyer must address..my yard only pays BB for shiny #1(which I hardly ever get), but I keep hearing ppl on here talking about selling all of their stripped wire for BB..makes ya wonder if ur taking it up the arse

BB wire needs Tobe no smaller then 16 gage My yard will take any pipe with out solder or paint as #1 so you can have the natural greenish and still get #1 price . 99% of my copper I sell is #2 .My yard pays best on over 250 pounds @3.30 #1 .14 less #2 under 250 lb 2.85 #1 2.70 #2 BUT sure if they can get #1 at #2 price from you they will go for it .

I got 3.20 for #1 copper and not all of it was BB, got 2.95 for #2 yesterday 2-21-13. I had some copper heat sinks with copper fins and got #1 price for them.

At my yard BB is 3.25...#1 is 3.12.. N #2 is 3.00...thats where I get confused..

Ive turned in BB once n it was 20lbs of thick #1 wire I had stripped..

Ive heard on here of ppl getting BB for their degaussing cables n I just dont get it..that goes as #2 for me...whats the deal???

That is so true. I have 4 yards within a reasonable drive. Only 2 of them have a bare bright catagory and the diameter doesn't matter as long as it's bright.
I unloaded my bare bright for $3.30 yesterday because I don't like the way the spot copper price is moving.

They were paying $3.20 for #1 and $3.00 for #2. I'm still holding on to mine which may or may not be a mistake.
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....

Yeah, but the yards around you are kinda goofy anyways. Iffin' ya know what I mean. Each one likes something a little different. And when they sell it out of the yards, it's made of GOLD.
