Bump
Better than the dump!
I'm back to using the yellow cat litter pails for pennies as they seem to be the best at the cost. It would take a small fortune to use ammo boxes and such.
I use 50 cal ammo boxes for other coins as they work well. I also use many of the plastic shoe totes as they are cheap and work well as long as there is not a lot of weight in them and you watch the stacking.. But they will hold a lot and sandwich bags in rows filled with whatever line up nicely.
The rectangle and square shaped older office waste baskets that are stiff plastic or metal are also nice for sorting and holding things.
I use many of the nicer 12 pack boxes and 24 pack beer boxes for storing my collections and such. I put a label to identify what's in them.
Something I have that I've been using for many many years are the grey shipping totes that Walmart and other stores use for shipping things. They have covers and are about 2 foot or so high and about 3' x 4' and they stack just like the smaller plastic totes without the lids on when empty. I have put pull ropes on a few of them so I can pull them along behind me. I mostly use them for clearing paths of leaves, weeds and sticks, But I also use a few for storing things outside as they keep the weather out well enough.
I do like nice containers that are free or reasonably priced.
I dunno .... old Henry Thoreau used to say Simplify, Simplify, Simplify. Others say Keep It Simple Sam.
That's what makes the most sense to me these days. LOL ....it's come to a point where i don't know half of what is in the shop sometimes.
It's a good day when i can delete one of the buckets or bins in the shop. It's no easy task to clean out all of the " stuff " that's accumulated over the years.
