    new to electronics scrap

    Hello

So while I am not really new to scrap metal but mine is usually in the larger metals where I own and auto repair shop

I went to a town auction and put a bid on a couple treasures that i got for 25 bucks. How ever i did not know that the lot contained 22 boxes of stuff I thought it was 2

so I ended up with about 40-50 old in car police and fire cb radios that have metal cases. I do not know if these are worth anything as scrap or resale value they all where probably top end in there time but our city switched to the narrow band freaquency. there also was about 10-15 computers and so other large metal motorola things wich i am guessing are repeaters but I really dont know

so my question is did i end up with a bunch of crap or can i break this stuff down? and is it worth it

there also is about 50 hand held cb radios with the seperate mics that go on the shoulder i assume there must be some sort of market for this but I have yet to find one

E bay or Crags List for selling as a unique Item . I wonder if it will pick up the police as that sure would make it a question of ethics as what will some one do with that . If you open you'll find some copper a board It will be like pulling teeth to get to the good base metals
Now sure if you want to jump ship on it . sell it to the yard as Mix . If you just take cover off you could go Copper Bearing on it most likely as with cover off it looks juicy to yard people that might let slide the lower metal case in place.
    ---------------------------------------------
If choice is to break down find 2 identical units take one apart and organize the metals for proper sale to see what it's worth - Now see what yard will pay as is , simple any way figure it is 5 or 6 pounds and going to be around .50 cents each . apart I guess a $1.25 (A guess estimate)
Or sell as a whole lot on E Bay

If the radios have removable crystals inside, they would be worth pulling and reselling on eBay, even if you scrap the units. But I'm thinking the radios would be worth selling (as radios) especially if they are tested to at least 'power up'.

A lot of the newer radios are programmed by computer and not crystal. They are in the police band and not CB radio. They could be reprogrammed for the business band for some smaller businesses. If the police unit went narrow band the the radios would not be compatible to pick them up. There is a lot of retired radios still in service around the country. A business band company can reprogram them for whoever buys them.
