Roaches??????

Not all lizards are. Some are nocturnal. The leopard gegko is awake and hunts at night and are excellent hunters. and make good pets as far as lizards go

i never had roaches in my house until i moved to florida. friggin pests were impossible to get rid of until we started using the combat bait tubes. i definitely don't want them again but i'm not too concerned if i unknowingly bring them home from scrapping. that bait works just as good as an exterminator, maybe even better.

If it's that bad infested, haul it straight to the yard, then stop at the car wash before going home, and pressure wash the hek off of it

If the cost involved in fumigating your house with the tent and everything, for a few days while you spend the nights in a hotel, is less than what the value of the scrap is, then it might be worth the risk of bringing those nasty, disgusting critters home with you. But if it costs more to clean up the potential bug nightmare, than you would make off the scrap, then no, don't go near it.

Personally I have never lived in a place with roaches, but I have read about it. It's disgusting, and just living with them, their feces, the diseases, could potentially shave off years of your life, just the fumigation alone could shave off a few years of your life. I wouldn't play with it, you could be causing you a problem that lasts for years and spend more several times over than the scrap is worth.

Home pest control in a 1 gallon spray container is available at all the big box stores. Only $10-$15 bucks and use it liberally. I alternate brands (with different active ingredients) so anything in the shop doesn't build up resistance to one type of spray.

Seems I read about someone on here throwing roach infested metal on their burn pile and fishing it out later. Or did I dream that?

I heard about a fella in Tennessee who had fleas in his house. He set off a bunch of those 4 hour bombs and went for a drive. The hot water heater came on and ignited the fumes and blew his house all to pieces. He came home to find his house in shambles but the fleas were still there ; )

I used to live in employee housing working for an orchard in central Washington state, and roaches were everywhere. You'd go to take a shower, crush 20 on the way to the bathroom, and drown 5 in the water. It was pretty gross. I talked to one of the mexican guys I worked with about it, and he just laughed "Ese, you leave America, you go to Afghanistan, Mexico, you will have roaches. The whole world has them but you".
You learn to get used to what you have to, the guy who posted earlier in this thread who went to Africa is right. Entire value size cans of Raid did nothing to them, I sprayed a big ring of it around the fridge door to keep them out of the fridge, and the next day, sure as heck, there were 40 in the fridge. I remember hitting one with a big blast and it started running. I kept the Raid spraying full bore on it for 20 seconds around the room and finally it drowned in a pool of it.
If you don't have them already, don't bring 'em home. Not worth it
