Tater,
Any idea how old that building is? Or when it was last used as a gas station? The style of the concrete front looks like it might have been from the 1930's? I'll bet the gas station was around when Model T's were still filling up!! I love looking over old history like that.
Don't forget to ask about the old gas tanks....probably underground but if its going down legally I'll bet the EPA makes the property owner dig them out.
Cool find.
Jon.
Today's load of rail road scrap
http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps242fd0f5.jpg
Did some work on the sides on my car trailer yesterday.
Welded on extensions to take it clear to the front.
http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...psac393c60.jpg
Using old sign post, and a little sq tb, made channels on either side to secure the front header board.
http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps74f00099.jpg
http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2bfe1506.jpg
And on the back welded sign post and more square tube to the rear board to keep the back smooth so it don't get destroyed loading or unloading.

http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...psd167d6c1.jpg
And welded a loop, old u bolt, on either side on the sides for the rachet strap to hold the rear board in place.

Not my prettiest work but very functional.
Nice vertical welds. Almost better than your horizontal beads. LOL Your vertical welds are better than some of the horizontal welds I have seen.
And all work was achieved, on the side boards, with scrap material, so way cheap, and some time with a mig welder. And front and rear header boards were scrap as well, just 2 strips I cut off the old rail car door. I love building with scrap, way cheaper, sometimes takes a fair amount of creativity to make what you got to do what you need it to, but in the end so worth it.
Tater's new scrap rig. 2500 HD, 6.0, and one happy tater.
http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps12b16fb9.jpg
Bought this 1500 HD on the cheap, blown head gasket, gona use this flatbed on my new rig.
http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps75e6c717.jpg
Tater, you are moving on up. I love your trucks, but I could not handle the stress of scrapping with such nice vehicles. I would be just waiting for the first time I got a dent or scratch. Then life would be good and stress gone.
Congrats on the new trucks Tator! Putting the flatbed on the 3/4 will help with that stress Patriot. lol
Tow/haul button wasnt working on my new rig, which isn't uncommon. Ordered a dorman 905-106 replacement shifter handle.

The culprit
http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps464cbd11.jpg
After bout 30 mins, and 75$ thru local parts house, it works again. Could've got it cheaper thru amazon but didn't want to wait on it.
Love the new truck tater, even more so when you get the flatbed on it, you will like the under bodies also. I couldn't imagine going back to a regular truck after having a flatbed
Thanks sledge. That 6.0 is a freaking beast ! Although fuel mileage isn't great, checked it at 75 to 80 with 1100# + of car batteries in the back, logged 13 and change. Didn't even notice the weight at all ! When I switch from the 245 size tires to 265 should shave off 300-400 rpms on the top end. Don't sound like much but in a years time will save a noticeable amount of gas. Future upgrades will include diablo in tune power programmer, cold air intake, and dual exhaust. All of which will include a write up here!
Taterjuice ---- not to hijack your thread, but have you ever considered sticking a Cummins 4cylinder engine into a truck? My 2000 Dodge Dakota had a knocking 4.7 and I swapped it out for a Cummins 4bt. I went from 15mpg to 25mpg; granted diesel is a little more expensive; however, I've got plenty of torque and the increased economy is nice.
Tator look into EFI Live tuning for your 6.0. I have it on my Duramax and it made a whole new truck out of it. EFI tunes can be written for just about any modern GM motor. I have Tyler's tunes from Punisher Performance on my truck. He has great customer service and reasonable prices! EFILive Custom Duramax and Cummins Tuning and Diesel Performance Parts
Here are some other tuners that tune a lot of trucks, they may not list that they tune gas trucks on their website, but give them a call to see!!

I was gonna say save me the rear bumper! but by the looks of it its probably rusted. I doo need a glove box =) & a window crank =)
Huge demand for 99+ chev truck parts up here. Id have that picked clean in a matter of a few weeks. Good score! But...what happened to the RF tire? Looks like the whole spindle came out with it lol
Time for a rendition of....The wheels on the chevy go round an round...till the spindle falls out an the whole thing hits the ground...the wheels on the chevy go round an round....
Thank you! Thank you! I'm here till Sunday! Try the sushi an tip your wait staff!

Hit a bridge, hard ! Lower control arm and the entire spindle is laying
In th bed. This one is getting parted out ! Huge demand for em here too! Run into a guy clocking for lunch the next door and sold the left front fender, door and both bumpers ! Both mirrors sold, and gona put the seats and console in my old 84. Hope I can get more of this late model stuff, people love it !
Hoping I can figure out my "Whirring" up front in my Chevy.. so mine doesn't end up looking like THIS ONE! Ouch!
Center Bearing? haha or the wheel bearings.. I had to both of mine in the 99 sierra.
Tater your box is full. Tried to send you a PM. What color is it? Can you post a picture & if you don't use the center console lmk.

I just had the hubs re-done which are all inclusive.. so not sure. I need a bad@ss mechanic to take a look at this.. I've gotten advice all over the map on this issue. Don't want to jack the thread- I only fear my silverado will end up looking like this one Tater snagged if I don't figure it out!
Tater looks good. You are the man keep it up.
Wood man, my inbox is empty now.

Whoa ! Pretty steeply priced but I like it.
Well boys and girls, Thursday was a bunker buster day for the juice. Bought 3 vehicles all in the same day, one pickup, one minivan, and, a first for me, one BMW.
1992 Chevy 2500. And yes without the bed on it does wicked burnouts!
Trany is missing 2nd gear.
