One yard I use the scale rounds up to the next lb. pay is rounded up to the next quarter. They use an atm and it spits out quarters. another yard I use pays exact change. I think the new laws in Florida says anything over 500.00 is to be payed by check.

So when you guys use the atm do you have to put in your drivers licence? Just seems weird to not get paid by a person...

Here in sc at the yard I go to mainly they print out a ticket in the office then you go outside to the ATM, where you scan your ticket it only pays in bills no coins so if you take 46.49 they round down to $46 if you take 46.50 they they give you $47

Have gotten a check only once, for $1,900+ in copper.

Had a pay out not too long ago for $1,994 and change. In cash. Made me sorta nervous walking out with it since there were others standing around watching the cashier count it out and hand it to me.

    I get paid exact.

Cashier gives a card or receipt with bar code that is inserted or scanned at ATM. Helps some with the privacy since others don't no how much cash was just spit out.

I get paid cash all the time at Michigan yards. Rarely do I do less than a $200 load.

Place I go pretty sure they round down. Kinda sucks because with steel they round to the nearest 10 pounds, and it's always cash. No need to show an I'd just walk up and cash out with green in hand.

learned this on a frugal forum:

spend all your change at self checkout lanes at the grocery store, they accept change and count it for you

no paying coinstar fees, no counting out the money yourself, no having to take it to the bank
    collecting san joses scrap
