Lightbulb Laptop vs. Desktop Optical Drive Board

I always go through my desktop optical drives at once, but I have a lot of laptop drives stashed up. Was not sure how to go about processing but I found the driver board has a higher density of ICs and such than a desktop optical driver board.

Would you grade the laptop optical driver boards higher? Such as with hard drive boards?

The answer is with your buyer, its what he pays that makes the deciding factor on value. 73, Mike

I hate bugging my buyer eWasted. What do you think he will say? His criteria I am sure is widely discussed on this forum. I have not followed this site in over a year, I stopped scrapping metal and moved into computer scrap only.

I'm with BillyGoat, ask Mario, I do and include photos so there is no confusion. 73, Mike

When I read your post earlier my first thought was....Laptop cd drives don't have a circuit board inside them do they?

I'll have to admit I'm feeling pretty stupid right now. At 0.04 oz they don't weigh much but it all adds up.

I've been throwing them in the shred pile for 4 years now.

Ya learn something new almost every day.

I thought cd drive is a cd drive rather its in a laptop or a deck top. All I know from wasted is keep that stuff separated and save .30 a pound.

Not bugging us at all! It would be classified as a cd/dvd board. It would not be worth any more money.

Just because you stopped scrapping metal and moved into E-waste should have stopped you from following here. I only do e-waste and metal is only a by-product of that and I never stop following or reading. The only thing I stopped was shopping at curbico because when your going out to collect gas money for the next night, that doesn't pay the bills. I can always find something that might be relevant to adding more money into the mix of things.

Thanks eWasted! You guys are great, seriously.

I know I should have not stopped using this forum but I got real busy with my degree and work, I landed an IT job for a university and we have a lot of computer scrap so I honestly did not have time to "search and read" and I would rather ask a specific question and wait for the response. This is just how I use forums, I have a learning disability with reading, it takes me a very long time. I appreciate the help everyone, this forum is awesome.
