pentium 3 cpu breakdown

okay so we all have seen those pentium 3 green fiber cpus with the silver colored copper built in heatsink on the top of them, ive always wondered to leave them as is and sell them as pinned or remove the heatsink and sell them as fiber. Its time to find out

$20 Green Fiber without Heatsink
$8 Green Fiber with Heatsink - Pins
$2.60 #2 copper

as-is green fiber with heatsink 0.821 ounces value 41 cents

breakdown:
heatsink 0.491 ounces
8 cents #2 copper
cpu 0.328 ounces
41 cents green fiber cpu

looks like you increase your profit by 20% and cut your shipping costs greatly on the cpus, the copper tops you can just sell to a local yard

wow, im learning a lot tonight, I would have never thought to break down a processor, only 8 cents but that's a 20%increase and like you say you will save on shipping

If it's what I'm thinking it is, I jammed em up agin the doorpost and layed a wide chisel on there. One good wack with a hammer and they came right off ; )

But sometimes a piece of the chip is still stuck to the heatsink. Are you losing any value with the piece stuck to the heatsink?

these ones you can separate the copper top from the fiber part without any tools, I just bend each of the four corners in a little bit and the copper part usually comes right off

these are socket cpus not slot cpus
