I agree, the search function is limited in what it can do. The problem folks have is when someone signs up and their very first post is "where can I find metal?"
Really? Heaven forbid that person get stranded somewhere and need to find water. Woe is them.
We just want people to take a tiny bit of initiative. You demonstrated that you have when you couldn't find what you were looking for. Granted it was spelled wrong, but you attempted to research it. That's all we ask. Tip: if you aren't sure how something is spelled (and I wasn't on pallidium/palladium), run it through Google.
