Need some advice, Motherload of E-waste from auction.

I am from Hamilton Ontario Canada.
I just bought a huge unit at an auction.
It was a POS point of sale company that moved to the UK
I have tons of everything except maybe cpu chips

We have three big boxes of trillium pci extender cards alone.
    20 new scanners
2 boxes of new hard drive ribbins
    10 boxes of various wires
20 towers got 5 new in the box
    10 touch screen monitors
    20 80 gig hard drives
    8 boxes of various cables
    mag card readers
    8 interact consoles
    12 thermo printers
    16 strips of eproms
and a bunch of ram both laptop and towers.

It has taken us 4 days to go through all this stuff.
75% of this stuff is new.

What should we do with this stuff. We are new to the E-waste side of scrapping.

    Awesome motherload!

I would say that 75% of what you have is NOT e waste. All of the new stuff, SELL SELL SELL. Try it on e-bay. (i know, i know, "the fee's!! the fee's!") Try craigslist, try throwin' on a low cut shirt, holdin a cute little thermo stripper, and stand on the street, they're sure to sell!

    that 75% just turned sexy

As for the stuff that you CAN'T sell, definately scrap it. But honestly, it sounds like pretty much all of that can be resold.

    Good pick!

Ill buy the 20 80 gig hard drives from you if you want to ship them to the US. I could be interested in the ram as well dpending on what it is. How much you ned up getting the motherload for at auction if you dont mind me asking?

We paid $200 CAD for the unit and a $35 service fee.
Everything was in boxes and all we could see before we bid was two huge office desks and the closed boxes.
Everyone thought it was paperwork in the boxes.
We bought the unit because we have a client looking for an executive desk.
    What a pick.
I think tops my best day if I can even get half the Ebay price.
We thought we should try selling to some POS companies in Toronto but at worse case I think we a clear it out as E-Waste.

I love this site. Never knew it existed. Two Thumbs Up to the creator.
Will sign up for upgraded membership this weekend.

We have so much of this POS equipment, I don't want to jump into anything right away. However, would love to know our options.
Everyone talks about Craigslist. Up here we use Kijiji.com Do you guys have it down there?

Betty use to be a dancer back in the day. Maybe she might put the low cut shirt on..........

I sent you a PM. Shipping to USA will be your worst enemy when it comes to selling them as E-waste. International shipping on small boxes/orders isnt cheap. I would think a local company there would definitly want the touchscreens. the wires you can just take to any scrap yard. Im assuming the towers are complete computers? Or are they just the cases? When you say new in box I think they are just cases. If they are just cases take old ones to scrap yard with the wires and sell the new in box ones on ebay. the rest I havnt a clue what to do with Hope that helps some.

I know a guy in Toronto that buys/sells electronic type stuff. How close are you actually to Toronto? I could send this info along if you'd like.

Before you take any wiring in be sure to clip the plug-ins off. Most ends from the inside of computers are gold plated. We usually save those till we get a bucketfull.

I use Kijiji, but it's not anywhere near as popular as CL.

I am about 20 minutes away from Toronto. That would be great. I have spent the last two hours trying to figure out what cables is for what......errr
vga to dvi-d to hdmi to usb to serial
Man this is driving me crazy.
Much easier to scrap it all and call it a day, BUT I'll be kicking my butt when I find out it was all worth much more.
I guess I am loading the truck up and hitting the streets with my wares.
Atleast if I don't sell them, I'd have a better idea on what they are and what they are for.

Thank you for all the insight.

If you want to contact him direct, his name is RyanDrake on this forum http://www.thefastlaneforum.com/forum.php
Hamilton is neither 1500 or 150 miles from Toronto, much closer. However Ontario is HUGE. For me in Toronto it would be about 24hrs of driving nonstop to get to the western border with Manitoba.
