Located At Warner Robins, GA. . Purchaser is required to place a 30,000 lb. container for collection of material. Full container must be removed, replaced within (3) days of notification by DOD . Purchaser will be responsible for cutting/crushing and loading all large items. Purchaser is also responsible for clean up and removal of all debris. All scrap under this contract requires mutilation by the buyer prior to removal if allowed by location or mutilation must be witnessed and certified by DOD Personnel at buyers facility. I used to use GovDeals a lot as well as Government Liquidation. The problem I have found here recently is that on Gov Deals everything is going for way too high and on Government Liquidation it seems to be a bidding way between scrap yards so the average guy doesn't stand a chance. On top of that there are hoops and obstacles such as you must load 20,000 lbs yourself, you must mutilate the material either on their site or elsewhere, etc.

I have bought a lot of items at the Warner Robbins base, but i stay away from the scrap metal. There are 3 yards that i know of nearby and there is no way that someone further away can compete when factoring in fuel, mileage, labor, etc. Given the downsizing of the military these guys have a goldmine at their doorstep.

Burrage1 this is what I'm worried about, I'm in North Tx like telecom guy and I'm sure he can tell you it's slim pickins for little guys out here. So many people go to auctions because of the tv shows with these hyperinflated expectations that reasonable folks like myself looking to make a few hundred bucks on a deal don't stand a chance.

Telecomguy, do you actually have any luck out here? I've met a few nicer people that understand there is enough to go around, and then there are the guys that "know what you're up to and it ain't gonna work". I'm very new to doing this seriously and hope someone can teach me how to not mess up to bad.
