Won my first Ewaste auction

Just scored 35 computers of Various makes for $125! Figuring in the 520 mile round trip, i paid roughly between $4.90 to $5.28 per tower.




Not the cheapest towers but instead of sending them all out as Ewaste I may try to refurbish several of the units.

Well Ive already seen what the profit margins on towers are. As Im unemployed even a small profit is worth it to me.

What Im truely worried about is fitting 35 towers into my saturn 4 door lol. Hopefully some of them are the small form factor dells so I can stack them. Anyways tomorrow I plan on taking the rear seats out and a long overdue oil change.

you might also consider top and rear luggage racks, haha!

The most I've got was 18 in a Taurus, 20lb-25lb each X 35 towers is 700-875lbs. Gonna need a truck for that, it'll overweigh your car, break a spring or blow a shock.. Might want to rent a full size van or borrow a truck. Good luck

Ive had 20-23 towers in my car before with the seats in and 5 of those were heavy servers. It will be close! The sl2s are rated for 1000LBs tow rating max, so if the towers are inside the car it will give a better weight distribution I hope lol.

Can you pull the front passenger seat out perhaps? Usually 4 bolts holding it down. How about the base of the back seat? I believe there is member on here that stripped the interior of his car to accomodate more space for scrap. As pointed out, do your best to distribute the weight. Good luck and have a safe journey!

My business partner is coming with me so front seat needs to stay. Need to bring him as I can make him break his back rather than myself lol. Already working on taking the base of the rear seats out.

congrats on the win. be care full with the weight. A tow rate max is different than a "payload max" A car/truck can tow more than it call carry. A car usually can handle 800lbs, about 4/200 lb people.

Its a 1997 Saturn SL2. Great little car for under $1000.

35 desktops in a 4 door Saturn doesn't sound like a good idea. Even though you may be able to do it a broke suspension or torn out tranny will eat up your profits for the next few months and stop you from picking up more while the repairs are being done. Just something to think about and congrats on the win.

of course the easy solution is to find out if there is a scrapyard around nearby. Bring your tools and tear down the ones you dont think will be refurbished and take the metal to the yard, then bring the "goodies" home with you. Good luck!
