Beware of shill bidding. Someone may be driving the price above the "real" value and leave you hang on it with the winning bid. Does the bid history show the person out bidding you is the same one, or just automatically out bidding you?

Drive it up? Exactly! Every time you bid they'll take it back, "get away from MY stuff" mentality. The only time to "attend" an online auction is at the close, because the only thing that matters is who's ahead at the closing bell, so why set there driving it up. Wait, and watch, then bid before the close if it hasn't already passed your max.

PS looks like the university has all new computers, these are not scrap, they've merely been replaced with new ones. 99% of them probably work "right out of the box/pallet". The most likely thing that might be missing would be a good portion of the RAM, which could possibly go to upgrade any of the older ones which didn't get replaced (aside from the hard drives, already noted as having been removed)

I wouldn't be surprised to see that reach closer to 15K, maybe even nearer 20

Why not drive it up If I have no intention on actually winning it......To hell with the competition and make them overpay especially if they are sending it overseas......They will eventually figure out this is not profitable and leave our stuff alone and in our country....Don't get me started Bear LOL

I'm almost tempted to go over there and camp out for a day or so after the auction. See who picks them up and where they go

if i was the seller id make sure i got proof that the person picking up the stuff is the person that bought it, get a photocopy of there id and get them to sign a form stating exactly what they picked up.

I just picked up a lot that i won on an auction site today, i walked out of there with 6 pentium 4 towers, 4 servers, a heavy ass avaya rack mount UPS, a printer the size of a 10 year old kid, scanner, projector, 6 flat panel dell monitors, switches, KVMs, unopened toner cartridges (i think it was 8 of them) keyboards, mice and all of the cables for everything, oh... and a full box of cat6 CMR. Pricetag on this one... $158.50 and a 40 mile drive. I think I'll call this one a chicken dinner. Only thing that didn't power right up was the projector. I can sell the box of cat6 for $110 on craigslist by 9am.

That lot sold for $15,100. That is pretty scary without a manifest. I would have to assume someone did an inspection before they bought the lot. Otherwise I think it would be hard to make that money back.
