Never heard of this before, but I do use a tonneau cover on my truck when I am going to pick up loads and I am planing on getting a K&N air filter and Flowmaster exhaust installed soon.

Also driving with windows up or down at like 60 mph... don't think there was much of a difference. or putting in neutral down a hill rather than rolling down in drive.

On the mythbusters tailgate thing. It is conclusive that tailgate up gets better mileage. This is for the same reason that in your average rainfall you can drive and not get anything wet in your bed. There is a bubble that is created that causes a very nice constant flow of air that falls aboce the tail gate. With the tailgate down you actually end up with a pressure on the tailgate that pushes down increasing the force and effectively increasing the load.

Basically what at times I do is if I see a stop sign way ahead or red light, I start coasting before most people do or at times long before some do and put my vehicle in neutral and coast. That way I am doing 50 - 60 mph at idle speed. It saves some on gas, plus when I get to the sign or light I use less brake to stop, so it saves on my brakes also. I went 120,000 miles on my truck before I needed new brakes. Quite often when I get to the light it has changed to green before I stop or even start using the brake, so I either use very little brake or none at all. One of the biggest users of fuel is starting from a dead stop, so if I am still traveling 15 - 20 mph when I get the greenlight, then I am using much less fuel to get back up to speed. I also learned that if I came to a complete stop then put my truck in gear it was a little rough shifting, but if I went into drive from neutral right before I stopped (still doing 5 - 10 mph), the transmission shift was much smoother.

I never go above 2 rpm. Seems like you're going slow as heck, but when you get 13 mpg, you gotta give somewhere.

Maintain proper tire pressure. K&N air filter decreased my mpg summer and winter, but more hp. I made a cover similar in shape to the one in this link.

They are sometimes referred to as whale backs. Mine is a frame covered with vinyl. Maxed out so far at 26.5mpg in a 99 Nissan Frontier V6. Almost 500 miles on an 18 gallon tank. Gotta like that!
