I agree with Admin on this one. I know this forum is about helping people, and see the point to link to other helpful forums (even dead ones), but having a member act the way they did is inexcusable....

ESPECIALLY when you only have 6 posts, and haven't created any kind of relationship with the forum members.
Doing some quick research on the HDD Platters, it appears they go for about $8/lb on EBAY. Seems they go better if you show the weight in the description.
Welcome fl1870! What part of NE PA are you in, if I may ask? I'm from upstate NY near the NE PA border.
Why not? It's $3.70 in NY right now. I can get it just across the border for about $3.55 in PA. Weekly run to the In-laws helps my gas tank that way. :)
Mayeb we could ask them to "trust us" on our pail weights since we have to "trust them" on the weight of our loads. lol
You had 17lbs 15oz. Most scales I hear of round down, so you have 17lbs on their scale. (almost had it at 18, but not quite) Then the yards usually take 2lbs off for buckets instead of weighing...
Spinning it out would be the best way. If it's all turnings though, you might want a mesh on the inside of the rig to prevent the turnings from going through too.
Lead is very dense, which is one of the reasons x-rays don't penetrate. But it doesn't absorb x-rays like a sponge absorbs water. It more or less blocks it, causing the x-ray to be inert.
If you could filter it out for them (the oil), they may be willing to buy it back. Check with them to see if it's something they would do. Some places are finicky about that while others will jump at...
Pretty sure that's how it is here in NY too.
Awesome job!! Nice description of events too. I learn more from stories like this than I do asking specific questions!
Thanks Snodly! I know of a place in Ohio I can send pallets of tubes too, but I would have to charge to take tv's in order to afford it. You pay by weight as well as shipping. (unless you have a...
That's what we like! Someone we've helped becoming a participating member! Kudos and welcome!
Nice update Snodly! Sounds like Karma strikes again. haha If you don't mind me asking, what do you do with the tv tubes when you are done breaking them down?
Oh sorry there. Didn't see you were a scrap room member already. Just looked at your post count. You should definitely have plenty of room now.
LoL Oh, if walls could talk. :)
That will be tough since you are only allowed 1 PM message at your level. Better offer another way for contact.
If you clip on the back of your jeans, you may be less likely to snag it on anything and lose it.
Sounds like you could do well! Take out the motors and the wiring. Some dryers have stainless steel drums, so separate those when possible. You should be able to make $10 or so for each.
Someone would definitely need medical help after that one. Ouch!
It's called an XRF gun. You can find a lot if you google that.
Wow man! That's HUGE! Sweeeet find! I think I would give my left...well, you know...for a load like that!
lol Just have to show them the benefits so they believe! :)
It's all a matter of weight versus $$. Fingers off boards don't weigh much themselves. So let's do some math!
For example purposes, let's say a board is 10lbs. It takes a lot of fingers to add up...
