I've been metal detecting for around 9 years now. I have a Garrett GTAx 550. I love the thing. And yes over time it has paid itself off several times over. I found that the cheap rock tumblers don't...
About 2 weeks ago I got 16 cents a lb for compressors at my scrap yard.
It's also the same price at my scrap yard. whether it is beer cans, soda cans, ect.. I think around 66 cents pound right now
I've been grabbing electronics as of late because nobody wants to fool with them. Never thought about the gold in the cell phones. I'm guessing you have to save a lot of them and sell them on ebay?
I tried taking a few to my scrap yard, but they wouldnt take them. I first tried as electric motors and was denied. And as you drive on the scale there is a giant radiation detector that you drive...
I know my local yard takes motors. If your good at it, take the motor out and get a bunch together. I took some in 2 weeks ago and it was 27 cents a lb
Not too much, as scrapping is a hobby and not so much a business for me. I made $420 on one trip. Mostly copper and brass I was saving up.
Yea usually I either just cut the wire with insulated side cutters, or I'll take my channel locks and grab a piece of copper to go over the 2 terminals. I'd also like to know if they are worth...
I'm not an electrician but this can happen. I know with old A/C units, you can get electrocuted by a capacitor after its been off a while. I don't know what capacitors look like in a TV, but I'm...
I didn't do too bad today looking for scrap metal. Luckily I work at a HVAC company and a lot of their stuff goes into the dumpster. The owner has a pile of scrap out back of the shop but people get...
I save cans, but only ones that I use. Or I have family members save them for me. I don't think I could bring myself to stop along side the road and pick up one can. Doesn't seem like its worth the...
Gotta be careful with construction refuse. A few scrap yards around here wont even take it due to the high theft rate
I took some #1 copper in yesterday and received $3.05 a lb here
I've read on a few posts around here about people taking apart microwaves and the such. Is this safe? I don't know too much about the inner workings of these things.
a lot of people just cut the copper lines inside the air conditioners and let the freon out. Which is illegal and can nab you a fin upwards of $10,000 if I'm not mistaken. You also need to be EPA...
