We're just picking on you TR, hence the NY thing. Cause NY'ers have that rep for not being the nicest folk. An your profile still says NY.

Not a matter of city slicker, country, etc. Just ask BC, I tease him all the time for it. An he's one of the nicest folks I know. I also tease my buddy about it all the time, as he was born on Long Island, an hasn't lived there in over 20 years.

I know you know I was teasing, but so is Happ.

Just want to encourage those watching this thinking of breaking down some tvs. Please weather you remove the yolk clips and pull off or just bash off with a hammer be careful and get the cover back on for your own safety.

I think 1st response got it right, Why? I think safety was stressed by original video and others. What I learned was most of us after doing half dozen or more basically do and utilize similar techniques, with same results. Why because we are learning from each other and why forum is such a great asset to all of us.

I will give you Encyclopedia Britannica's definition: Ferrite - A ceramic material with magnetic properties that are useful in many types of electronic devices. Ferrites are hard, brittle, iron-containing and generally gray or black and are polycrystalline - I.E. made up of a large number of small crystals. They are composed of iron oxide and one or more other material in a chemical combination. - More info. Even rust is considered ferrite! (I wouldn't try to sell rust). You well find ferrites in CRT yokes, transformers, chokes, coils and even just used as a weight. I put all of my ferrites (not rust) with light iron or shred buckets. I have never had any yard question it and have been paid from $.03 to $.10 a pound for it. Not going to get rich on ferrite selling but it all adds up to $$$$.

I like Jerry's technique as it will discourage competition.

When I have 50 of them I take a frigging mallet and get to it - thats all Bam Bam Bam

I've been reading through the "tv yoke" threads, and this is the *very* question I was gonna ask.
Thanks for the info, now I know what to do with my huge pickle jar full of ferrite!
