Deep/chest Freezers

I had a friend tell me he'd give me 3 chest freezers if I wanted them. I know about the freon but are fridges and freezers worth the work? Should I break them down? Or take them as is or not at all?

If you do take them here's another idea. This is a good way to get rid of old plastic pieces from other items which otherwise you would have to haul to the landfill and pay to get rid of. You might also check with you scrapyard as to what you can actually put in as I have put broken glass from windows in them with no complaints from my local scrapyard.

My yard accepts anything with metal, as long as there is more metal than plastic or other debris. I take the non ferrous, and the rest goes in mixed scrap. I'd check with your yard if worried about the extra garbage.

If they are older ones, the lines that you can see will probably be all the cooper you'll get out of it. The rest could be steel. The last two I took apart was not worth completely ripping it apart. Get the tank, the lines that you can see and then test the rest of the lines with a magnet......... you'll be disappointed if you take it apart for nothing.
