- New to scraping

Hey everyone I know this has been asked a few times prob but can people give me a run down of all the types of metals and how to identify what it is etc. I have a lot of copper wire from bedroom walls then I got copper from TVs and power cords etc and also got copper tubes and people said that their all diff and what metal is in the power plug ends

Look near the bottom of the home page, theres a scrap metal basics, which includes a metal identification section. good place to start. Youtube has some videos on scrapping just about anything.

But just remember that almost every yard will classify stuff differently so what might be #1 here may well be #2 there, and prices are always changing.
We can give you ideas and tips but a lot comes down to what and how your yard wants stuff broke down and stripped

I joined a few weeks ago and there's so much info here. I've been reading a lot and the more I read the more questions I have, so I read more. By the time I find answers to the questions, I have more questions that need answering. Oh my head hurts, but I'm learning.

Welcome! Like everyone else has said...READ. One other piece of advice, take a field trip to your local scrap yard or two and ask them for a tour. I got a tour of my main yard and I know how they want things separated. Best of luck!

yes. Typically. They are plated. If you take a grinder to it, or just scrape it with a knife, you should see a brass color underneath.
