    Need Advice - Scrapping/parts car

I was driving a family members car today and that gravel sound came on from the transmission, got it looked at and had tranny fluid but it was burnt up. It's a Saturn VUE with 20k on a rebuilt transmission they had sunk $2400 into. Called the dealer who did the repair and he said sounds like a hard part failure. The transmission is a VTEC that had been recalled and GM was going to replace until the Government Motors bailout and then the "New" GM said your on your own. So it's got 100k on it and costs more to fix then it's worth. Part it out? Strip it down and scrap it? Sell it to a junkyard? Any advice would be appreciated.

I would look into a junkyard transmission and swap it in. youll only get a few hundread from scrap (not sure what JY pays) I could be wrong but I wouldnt think thered be much interest in saturn parts.

i 2nd that, try the transmission swap first, if you cant find one try to sell it as a project, thats what i do with the clean cars i get, this is the right time of the year to hold onto projects, scrap as a last resort until after tax season, im holding onto 13 right now just waiting

You might check out the nearest LKQ as they advertise their transmissions for around 125 ea. with some kind of warranty.
