Ha ha ha :-) .... actually I am looking for a bulk purchase. I'll be visiting all three cities for the same purpose during the next month, so I was wondering if I could get some information for some good spots to target.

The yard I usually go to (Erath Metals, about 40 miles south of Ft Worth) buys whole compressors. I know they sell some of their scrap to individuals, as I have seen some folks buy some of the scrap that others have brought in (one person wanted to buy an electric motor out of the bin where all the electric motors were, and the yardman said no problem, he just had to weight it), so I do not see why they would not sell compressors. Try calling them and see what they say. There are quite a few scrap yards in the DFW area, but they do not all separate the whole compressors from general steel scrap, so you would just need to call them and find out. I know Erath Metals separates them as I have seen the heavy guage cardboard bins full of nothing but whole compressors.

@ Wayne1956 ... Thanks ... This was very useful information for me. I am totally new to this field, can you please tell me about some others as well. Is there a listing or directory somewhere that has a list of yards.

I have seen some pictures over the internet of yards with tons of compressors, when I contacted them I found the adds were from brokers / middleman. I want to touch the yards directly.
