    New Lead: Facebook Groups!

I have found a local cash cow! Several locals got together and started a group for selling stuff. As I looked around at other towns, it appears to be a growing trend. It's like a very localized CL. In the search bar on FB type in your town's name (or try your neighborhood's name) and see what pops up. For instance, if you live in Lake City, you would type in "Lake City" and you might see several local businesses and service groups. Look for one that says "Lake City Stuff for Sale" or something similar and ask to join the group. Most of these groups are stay-at-home moms looking for baby stuff, but I've had some luck.
We get snow here all winter, so yard sale season stops in October. Apparently, my local group of yardsalers search and sell on this group's site during the winter. Lots of cheap and free stuff! I've gotten a dryer and a copier for free in less than a week without advertising what I do. Today, I'm posting an ISO (in search of) ad for myself stating that I pick up e-waste, appliances, metal, etc. for free. I'll tell you how it goes.
I know things slow down in the winter for collecting for many of you. I hope this helps you fill your truck! Let me know if you are successful, just make sure that your group is local, not for a similarly named town in another state.

This has been far more successful for me than Freecycle or Craigslist because I don't have to drive 100+ miles to pick something up. My local CL group covers 6000 square miles. HA! That's NOT local at all.

Good Idea Oldbarnz, thanks for the tip, next I log in FB I'll take a look for any such groups in my area. We tend to do yardsales year round here but worth a shot!

Let us know how your ISO goes.

Well, I suppose it is a "Whose got big admin "bal*s" on your local group. I posted a very professional "ISO" ad for vehicles on mine.. and checking 3 hours later- deleted. Email into Admin now asking "Why The Face?"

Been usuing this very sucessfully now for over a year. Get quite a few leads for both buying and selling usuable items. We even started our own "group" where i keep my wanted ad pinned to the top so everyone who logs on sees it. We are part of about 20 groups and have formed a nice little network due to it.

Speaking for myself, these sites work!!!! My wife posted an ISO ad for me and not only does she get calls from the ad its self but she is always having members that she has became aquainted with that are emailing her letting us know where an item is sitting on the curb. Just picked me up a washer and dryer last night!!!!

I think I need to move! Everyone else seems to have a great go with these groups. Feel like I'm missing some golden opps because some Admin has no life and can't keep a professionally posted ad up because he thinks it may spam up the site. Oy!

this really works here is a picture of what i got yesterday just off 1 facebook group

most was from 1 business and then 2 more people said "since you will be in the area will you come by "address" we have several old computers we would like you to take.
I am also considering driving the truck around with a few old computers, the ones you see in the back of the truck are ones people flagged or chased me down that saw me driving and asked if i would take theirs too
Everything in the picture was free most of it on pallets where the business loaded on the trailer with the forklift.

nice score! If you can get people to chase you down like a UPS truck, trying to toss stuff on, you have a great anointing! They usually chase me down around here and try and take stuff off ;-)

and new contacts! I took a load of 90+ monitors last year when things were slow. that company has since "given" me over 400 desktops, 30 servers, UPS units, laptops, boxes of cat 5, yada yada...
I went out there 2 months ago and picked up a point to point satellite array system, they just wanted out of the way. Just sold for 750.00. So, you never know where things will lead, or what ya may end up with!! BroJer

Are you passing out business cards at every pickup?? Remember those people know 10-20 people also.

I see some pages on my Face Book that are my home area but I do not see any groups.......?

If a number of people like a page is that page considered a group or are there actual pages on there called groups?

That gives me a few days before I cook them up on a Saturday pig roast.

go to your facebook page. in the search bar type in the name of your city (or close by city) and keywords such as yard sale, garage sale, and so forth. On the list under the name of the page it will say group. some you may need to ask to join
