Monumental time of year for curb shopping!

I built a monument of scrap in my truck tonight..Tonight's curb shopping looked like a load of weeks of collecting going in to the yard. College is almost in session! That means the college kids who have no perception of value throw anything they can away so they don't have to move it and can get mommy and daddy to buy them a newer nicer one....It's move in/out time. Also families with kids are moving before the start of the new school year. This week has been crazy. I found a PERFECT working laptop with charger and recovery disc in the cd drive made in 2009 with pretty good specs in the garbage because it was loaded with virus and wouldn't connect to the internet... Tonight I found 3 grills, a washing machine, a safe, 5 ceiling fans, 6 bed frames, george forman, above ground pool pumps, stereos, tools, garden tools, enough cookware to fill a commercial kitchen, and every other odd and end you could believe. I filled the entire double cab of my truck and the bed up to 10 ft high. I literally left more scrap behind than I took because I just couldn't fit it all. I worked 15 hours today or else I would go back out.....I had to cut the cords off 20 TV and leave them behind. If you have a college near your town go check out the student housing areas NOW! I noticed 2 neighborhoods had way more than some of the others.

It's not so much the college kids going back to school. It's the end of summer. Typically most households move during summer because the kids aren't in school.

I'd really have to disagree as I saw most of the people still moving when I was collecting. 90% of the piles were college kids. We have a university with 55,000 kids, two community colleges, and Full Sail Digital Arts school so we got about 70,000 college kids who move around within a 6 mile radius.

Used textbooks = Good Cash. Post ads on campus. My EMT book was $90 used (10 years ago) A friend from class got his for$70 from, you guessed it a scrapper who was picking up a stove at an off-campus apt.

Scarpyaherd and Dunemaul, you guys artn't going to have time for e-waste if you keep this up. LOL good haul, I get .02 per lb. for books and yes text books have a better resale value. You might even be able to take them to the collage book store and sell them.

Up here there is a used bookstore in Ft.Wayne that buys and sell used textbooks, they sell for half of new, and I think they buy for 1/4 of new.

I hear that guys. I tore up the UCF area bad as well. Was going out and having to unload the truck multiple times. Ive never collected so many TVs before in my life. Same for mini fridges (all but 1 worked). got to the point where I was leaving shred in dumpsters because of the amount of TVs, fridges, and other things RESELLABLE that i could find. Great week for sure. Cashed in first load on forsyth today for 145 and still have a few loads to go, still breaking down. took mostly the shred today, some copper and a load of motherboards
