    Trophies

I have a box of trophies to dismantle. My magnet is not sticking to them. Some looks like brass, and some look like aluminum. Not sure, so maybe someone here can say.

Many are actually plastic...Newer ones anyway.

If the top piece is kinda heavy, then they might be made out of pot metal. Diecast??

I am sure that is definitely true. People get more and more cheap each year, I tell you.

Didn't think of diecast, but that is another possibility.

I was thinking bronze or brass myself.

I will ask tomorrow what they are when I turn them all in, and let everyone know. Thanks for giving me the additional ideas.

I would think just holding it you would know if it was brass/bronze or not.

Anyways, all the trophies I have ever seen (brother was a big deal in high school haha) were coated plastic.

Did a search and picked a random site. Based on what they're selling for I don't think people are making them out of brass or bronze.

What kills me is you could have figured it out in 30 seconds with a hammer or grinder.

if I told you something you like to try and turn it around on someone Like If I told you george Dismantle them and look inside and if they rough inside that means they are some kind of Pot Metal

you would come back and say.

I Never seen Pot Metal like that.
So to me it is useless to tell you anything.
Or I could say George weigh it when you have it stripped and with the thickness and Diemensions give me the weights you would say OH I did weigh it and I think it is this.

Sorry Buddy you don't want anyones Opinion So I say take it to the scrap yard and let them grade it for you.

Oh and BTW Plastic & Metal one that has been in this business any length of time knows how to distinguish between the two.

    Just saying
Perhaps it's the condescending attitude. Responding to questions shouldn't make you feel superior to your fellow members.

they would have to be really old to be anything other than plastic short of the heisman or national championship, my girls have over 100 from motocross all plastic, all of mine from baseball years ago plastic. it is possible and just guessing, (i watch alot of history and military channel) probably the last good ones were made in the late 30's early 40's because of the demand for metal in the war, and these don't look that old i just hope that they were free and not too far to drive. i also hope im wrong like always i wish the best and hope you make lots of $$$$

I wouldn't mix them in with shred. That seems dishonest.
