computer towers

Is there any value in computers besides the metal shell? my church has about 15 very old computers.

Yes there is. Use the search in the upper right corner you will find many threads about computers.

You will want to pay special attention to any posts by easyrecycle. You will want to break them down and seperate the memory, CPUs, and other boards. Once stripped, then the carcasses can be hauled to the scrap yard.

Wspecially check the recent posts from easyrecycle as there are a couple of videos that he posted.

Computer insides can bring anywhere from $5.00 to $13 each based on what you find in there...

Some computers can be worth more than $13 but you wont find them very often.

Wait..thinking about it..that seems off...lets do the math here...this is somewhat how a computer brakes down.

cd an floppy = 3 pounds at $0.15 =$0.45
High grade motherboard = 1.4 pounds at $3.30 =$ 4.62
Hard drive = one pound at $0.70 = $0.70
cpu verys to wildly but we will say $1.00
memory at 0.2 at $12 a pound = $2.40
power box at 8 pounds at $0.30 = $2.40

So each one can give you around $11.57

That is on the lowish side. The cpu can jump the price big time as well as how much memory an PCI cards you find in there. Some have no hard drives some have 3 or more hard drives...its really just based on what all you got out of that system but the avg every day computer...you should pull that out of it.

(p.s I counted for the cpu with the metal top. Ther have a good bit of weight to them an they add up fast at the $10 a pound rate I am paying. For more info on that search for grading CPU's post that I had made there is a video that will show you.)

to the original poster take the computers apart and send pics of the cpu's, memory and boards to easyrecycle and he can give a breakdown of what the stuff is worth easy is the guy to deal with on this stuff he's very honest and quick about taking care of business

there can be alot more value to the parts than what you might initially think especially if they are old dinasour computers with the old ceramic cpu's

plus its always fun to rip em apart and see whats in there - at least for me it is anyway
