Shafts come in two types in modern clubs, steel and carbon fibre/graphite. The heads I believe in most older clubs are cast iron I think. I never stuck a magnet to my clubs. Threatened to throw them in the water a few times, but never thought of scrapping them, sounds like a good find.

    I'd sell them. Even at $5 a piece, that's $750.

At my local club house they've got 5 barrels of clubs and the barrels just keep getting more full. The clubs are clubs left laying around the course and if no one comes in after 2 weeks it goes in the barrel. They sell em from anywhere $1-10 bucks. Last time I asked the manager they don't ever throw them away....

Probably would depend on the area where you live as well. We have only one golf course within 50 miles so one can barely give them away around here. But you could check with a driving range...they may buy them to allow people to use while knocking a few balls around.

My Dad sells clubs on Ebay, but he knows what all the different brands/types are etc...even if you got a buck a piece it's still more then scrap in most cases.

Around here there is a used sports gear resale shop that I bring my clubs to. IF they don't take them, I just throw them in the mixed scrap pile.

Try selling them as they are before scrapping them.

oj guys sorry for the long wait on the update had a busy week, anyways major fail on the gluf clubs i got the the location and the guy said he sold them to his neighbors son the night before i came ( never gave me a heads up that he got rid of them) before i came, so yeah so much for the clubs, the good news was he gave me his dads address and said he was downgrading, selling his house and moving into a condo so he might have some items, i gave his dad a call on the stop nice Italian guy told me to come asap. lol so i got to the property he had a cast itron furnace all apart he said go for it, loaded that bad boy in the truck with some other items

    15.50? Lucky.

It's no more than 10.00 round here.

You can sell golf clubs over scrap everytime on CL, just put a reasonable price on them. There are golfers out there introducing their kids to the game and will spring for $20 for a set to cut down. And if you come upon any left handed clubs they sell higher and you will get mucho hits on the ad. That's been my experience. They don't want to spend big bucks to only find out junior does not like the game.

    Congrats on the score!
Golf clubs are a favourite to find for me.
I generally find one or two a week and sometimes a bag full.
Sell all but the rusted out old iron irons.
I found a greg norman oversize 5 wood a few weeks ago in great condition on the first pile i visited on a council clean up.
This had titanium shaft and when i checked ebay the exact same club was listed at $60.
It did not sell but they did recieve three offers.
Deciding whether to sell or keep this one now.
Any old putters with brass heads can sell for a bit too, list as retro.
