I might pass, unless i could find a friend with a trailer. You would have to fill your truck as much as you could, I can only assume you don't have side rails to get a bit more on. even so, you would have to get 2000 pounds in every truck load just to make $60. That would be 10 appliances if they all weighed 200 pounds a piece. After gas to get each load, then head to the junkyard assuming (again) you don't take them home, offload and strip a few parts off if there is any..like the elec motors etc... You probably would do a lot of work for each $60 load and spend close to half of that each time just in gas. Well, obviously depending on how much your trucks eats in gas, and how far away the bone yard is...my dodge ram 4x4 sucks gas like crazy!! So my unofficial opinion is if you have a way to haul more than one ton at a time...like 2 or 3 tons, then it would be worth it, . otherwise i think it might not be, unless after you pay your gas...etc and end up being able to average out to like $10 an hour. at least.

Another thing to consider is how much copper and aluminum is there. And, yeah, you might want to check on that price for appliances. I haven't seen anything that low since a couple weeks in April 2009. What kind of appliances are you looking at? It might be worth buying a little 4'x8' or 5'x10' trailer for this trip; then start getting more and bigger stuff till you work up to a 7'x18'. Believe me, you'll get the loads to match the equipment you have. Happens every time.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

i'm from manitoba. i think the price is kinda low over here and i could get a higher price(double) if i drove another hour away. i can't haul a trailer at the moment or i would have access to borrow one. truck is on temporary insurance so i can get it safetied that is why i'm trying to haul some scrap to get some parts to finish the safety

Then I'd have to say - "probably not worth it".

That's pretty low. Even mixed metal is higher that $60 per ton. After you strip out the copper, aluminum, etc, try mixing in enough iron so that the junkyard would consider it mixed metal.

Not worth it at all.. you might be able to fit like 6 appliances, $60/ton sounds way too low. I would pass.

will there is a problem with that the guy that pays 60 sell its it to the guy that pays 135. and he uses tractor trailers to haul his stuff his probably got over a $1 million plus in scrap. they are both scrap yards.
