yea its that cheap chinese memory, just like those pesky cheap red motherboards

Aftermarket performance memory and motherboards sometimes were made in different radical colors. I use to deal with high end gaming equipment and most like me prefered the aftermarket look.

You do? I sorta have to go along with Andrew in the post above and think I prefer the coolish aftermarket/customized kinda look myself. I mean Everybody has seen green RAM but my original question seeks to find (number wise/rarity) how many others in here have seen or have on hand, red ones.Originally Posted by greytruck

Right on brother, I'm seeing where ya, that could be the trend right there. Geek stuff for uber-kool gamer crowd. Hmmm, that right there already puts them in a more "rare0ish " catagory for me so far. Thanx for your input. Have any laying around anywhere to shoot a pic of for us in here?

Here's you some red RAM, LB, that didn't come from China. It came in an SGI 540 Visual Workstation, first released in 99, I'm not sure the year this was made though. I bought it from NASA in about 04/05. It has 3 rows of these, and 4 XEON CPUs

yea bear thats the first of many auctions nasa had, its sad that weve reached the point where we cant fund a space program anymore and all the satellites going up are contracted out to the lowest bidder
i have been seeing alot of sgi systems hitting the scrap market latley

Hehehe, I see your point CEW she's a brutal quick industry to be sure. It's kinda like an, Allmarket now. Each one of us here get's to try the water's, no matter then, yesterday, today or tomorrow, sorta like stepp'n up on a old time Merry go round.

Oh WoW Bear, now to me, THAT right there, is a beautiful sight! Thank you for sharing this delightful group of high-tech ex-NASA computer parts with us all. So we add some history, and how you got 'em like ya did, and there my metal hunt'n friend, is one of the big reasons I'm even on this forum.
