Foreclosures ???

Hello All,
Not much time right now, (been using library computer mostly, when I can).

I got some great replies about Business Cards, so I wanted to "throw this one out there".
(Posted this in "Questions" since I've never tried it...yet).

An older scrapper was giving me advice recently since we usually run into each other on Sundays
so If he's there first, I just let him pick up stuff and chat a moment.

He told me where we live "the mexicans mostly have this locked down" "But.."

He said he used to go to real-estate companies, and ask whether they do sell foreclosed homes.

Then he'd advertise and get paid for removal of basically everything,
Non-metal going to the dump,
Metal appliances getting scrapped so he'd get paid on both ends!

Sounds interesting. Any advice or thoughts???

Your best bet would be to connect with someone who does clean-outs for real estate companies or the State. They'll go in and give a bid (price) to clear everything out of a house or property. Now this is where you come in. The winning contractor calls you to take all metal stuff. This way, he saves on disposal fees. I've gotten several this way and have never paid a dime for any of it. Two were for a contractor for the State who was cleaning out the properties of a nursing home commitments. There was no picking over stuff and saying "Well, you can't have this or that". If I wanted it, it went on the trailer. Otherwise, it went in the dumpster. I parked the trailer between the house/garage and the dumpster so the workers (all his - I didn't carry anything) would rather throw it on the trailer than haul it to the dumpster.

My brother and I do foreclosures, the scrap we find offsets some of the fuel money or even the dumpster rental.. Its going to be hard to find someone, nowadays... When I first got into that field of.work I would look on CL and find a scrapper to remove the metal because i did not want to pay more for the dumpster...but then i figured i should save and pile it up so since then im the one cleaning and scrapping... Its nice because we put in a bid for a trash out and any and all what is left including scrap either goes in the dumpster or on our trailer to sell/scrap...we are also certified to do mold inspections and remediation. That pays a hell of alot more then scrapping or a clean out hahah.
