    Scraping a projection TV

I never did one of these yet but I have a chance to get one. Any suggestion?
    Also have a few questions

Anything hazardous to watch out for?
    Why are they so heavy?
How much metal is in these?
    Any glass tube?

    Thanks

to me, not worth it unless delivered.

You have alotta garbage left over from the casing, and 3 small crt tubes inside with coolant in them. Be careful for the coolant so you don't spill it.

Basically it's like 3 small tube TVs in one big casing.

There's a big one in a ditch not too many miles from here I'd like to get, even posted a thread about it, but didn't use a direct enough title, so I only got wandering comments, up until about #20, who informed me that they come apart quite easily if you do it right(I think it was kind of split in the middle). Some others said to smash it apart with a sledge hammer and grab the goodies, but I couldn't see me doing that in a ditch, so, until now I've left it in the counties possession, because my only method to retrieve it would be to drag it out, across a terribly incredible obstacle course

I just gave my neighbor 14 of the older wood ones most of the weight is particle board. He got about 1.5 lb copper from cleaning the 3 yokes each was .9 lb, 1 lbs clean mid grade but it is a PITA to get them clean about 5 lbs low grade, 3 lbs cast Al .5 #2 ICW, maybe 10-15 lbs shred and 100 lbs of wood. So IMHO not really worth it considering the 3 tubes and propylene glycol hazards. Unless you are building a big bonfire.

I have a screwdriver with the interchangeable bits held in with a magnet. Pull the bit out and the hex driver now will remove all the screws out of a large screen's circuit board. The particle board usually has a couple of screws and maybe a couple of staples, just knock them apart with a hammer and throw the boards in the bonfire.

Just be careful about getting too close to that bonfire. The glues used in making particle board/plywood/OSB etc. give off toxic fumes when burnt. It's not at all like burning lumber.
