Searched but not much about LCD's

I've searched the forums thoroughly but there's little about LCD Monitors. I've seen pallets of say 150 lcd monitors on GovDeals go for as much as $2000+. What's the big deal? So I took a chance and found 36 lcd's for $125 at a local auction. I've only found 4 that would even turn on and 2 of those had spots in the middle. I won't sell items if they don't work properly or at all so I'm taking these things apart. So far, I've only taken 4 apart and looking at the scrap steel and aluminum, there's very little to impress me. Now the one board that's narrow and flimsy has some gold throughout the board but I still don't see the big deal for paying so much for mostly broken monitors. I did look into recycling the Acrylic Screen that each of the monitors have and found a person/company in TX that is willing to pay up to $.54 a lb for the acrylic sheets but I'm sure I'd have to have a couple hundred pounds for them to even look my way. So I'm wondering, why do the prices always go so high on the large lots of lcd monitors on some of these auctions, even when the description says things like "mostly non-working, AS-IS, largest monitor 17", etc? Am I missing something? I mean right now as I look, there are 30 monitors on Public Surplus that will sell in less than 20 hours in VA, all appear to be 17" Dells, and the price is up to $355. AS-IS. I don't see the value in these unless you have time to troubleshoot and fix them if they don't work and usually if they're in a heap like this, most will have scratched screens to say the least. Difficult to sell with scratched screens even if they do still power on and work.

Parts. those lcds are a quick 50-100 each working. Screens are big cash to and easy to store. boards are pricey to get best find a few working ones to keep in inventory on the cheap.
Born to think, destine to succeed.
