Update on this Yard, Prices are still holding the same. Took in a battery and got 0.28cents a lb. 0.60 a lb. for an aluminum radiator. Copper tubing went as #2 clean at 3.25lb. Life is still good, but My family's prayers go out to all the people down south, with all the tornado outbreaks, man what widespread damage

I have seen some good prices for it, but you will have to call a yard close to buy in order to get a solid price that you can work with.

I have heard horror stories about that stuff. There are only a few yards (that I know of) in all of Indiana who buy it. First, a sample will have to be sent out and verified, and you will have to jump through hoops to prove that it isn't stolen. This stuff is not really very common and is extremely expensive.

I called three yards today for copper prices. It's amazing to me that all 3 of these yards are located with in 15 miles of each other, and the dfference in prices! Bare bright was bringing $3.00, $3.20, and $3.65. I guess yall know where I went? Cashed in $275.00 worth. I just dont understand why these other two yards always low ball and expect educated scrappers to do business with them.

7-13-11 SW MN. just asked about price on a few things at a yard I've been going to for almost 30 years and wishing I had alternative markets to deal with. batteries .18/lb, #2 copper $2.80/lb. car bodies and tin 160.oo/ton #2 prepared or mixed steel $190.oo/ton.
I been trying to hold out for a little higher steel and copper prices but may just have to bite it and get a few tons of iron outa here to stay alive.

Sometimes I load my truck up at night under my carport but I am always afraid to put in my copper, brass or wire untill the next day.

    Olddude,
Sorry to hear that......I know how hard that hit can be when at our level it's survival earnings, food for your family, power bills etc.....and they need to steal our life's blood so they don't have to work to get high.
    Makes me feel sorta homicidal......

That sucks. The scrapper I learned from 3 years ago used to set booby traps all over his yard, and sleep in his truck with his gun. That said, I NEVER just showed up, especially at night, without calling ahead to let him know I was coming over.
