Steel prices down at my yard

Took in load of tin and shred in, prices fell from $180 a ton to $160ton. I need to call and see what the other big yard in the area is doing, as that my main yard has started paying the same for tin and #2 prepared steel.

Also, after leaving the scrap yard I did a non scrap hauling job to the dump for someone. Somehow my empty truck and trailer weighed 320lbs more at the scrap yard than at the landfill. Wonder if the scrap yard screwed me out of $25, or if landfill overcharged me, or a little of both.

Sounds like your scrap yard is screwing you over. I'd find another. Anything in the mid $100s is really low for steel too.
There's nothing more fun and more effective than hitting something repeatedly with a sledgehammer

In Trenton, NJ the price for light iron (tin) was $215 a ton on March 5th, the same price as in February. This scrap yard takes white goods as light iron.

According to Platts the mill price for shredded scrap is sideways from February.

Rowdy, stop by your local grain mill and get your truck/trailer weighed on a certified scale. Even if they charged you a couple dollars, you would know. My friend would always weigh in with his load of junk cars at the mill first and he found out who was screwing him and how hard. He got one place closed down by the state cause their scale was so far off,,, Mike
