Copper prices in the big markets

I see spot prices are skyrocketing. Haven't seen any change at my local scrap yard though. Anybody seen any change in price yet?
BTW here in Flint Mi we're getting 2.75 for #1 and 2.55 for #2

I've been getting $1.00 a lb for all my insulated wire for almost a year. Computer wire. ele. cords, TV wires, even phone wire. Everything except coax. My cable guy has educated me on that.
It can be copper plated steel ( which the scrap yard doesn't like ) and also a solid copper core. All the coax I have found so far is steel. I used to think all coax wire was a copper core until a yard man showed me different with a magnet and told me to put it back in the truck.

My buddy that installs cable was by the other night and we got into a discuccion on coax and I kept telling him it can be plated steel. He didnt belive me untill i stripped it and put it on a magnet.

Still sitting on most of my copper. I have the room, and its sort of sitting as emergency funds/ savings. 33 gallon garbage can of #2. Mostly tv yokes/ stripped wire. Also sitting on a 5.0 cu ft carton of #2 pipe and another. 5.0 cu ft carton of #1 pipe/ fittings. If I can ever find prices like everyone else is claiming to get I'll sell.

Have'nt checked prices yet, maybe tomarrow. Been getting 1.00 for #2 insulated,3.00 for #1 copper and 2.80 for #2 copper. Will post prices here tomarrow. Do you all put ribbon cable in with your #2 insulated wire? My yards only pay like .10# or won't take it at all but I might have a buyer for it, I'll have to check tomarrow.

I put ribbon cable in with my other small gauge wire like TV wires, lamp cords and the other computer wires. I'm currently getting $1.00 a lb.

I too am sitting on copper. Definitely keeping an eye on spot prices this week to see if they keep going up. If they do we should soon start to see their effects. Fingers crossed.

Try between the time you leave for the scrap yard and get there.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
