old sewing machine
I have not spoken in awhile but have been lurking about.. :) contacted this guy via craigslist but he is a 40 min drive so i decided to pass. Just out of curiosity, what do you think that thing is made out of and what kind of cash would it bring in.
Old Sewing Machine
Scored a huge grill yesterday btw and its full of brass :)

saw one at an auction a couple years ago, didnt sale even at the $5 minimum bid.

Made out of cast iron and worth way more than scrap. My sister just bought a sewing machine like that but it's not a Singer and she paid 100.00 for it.

Generally in descent shape they go for around $150. This one is not in descent shape so maybe $50-$75. I got a bunch of the cast iron stands years ago, and put walnut tops on them. Use 2 of them as night stands on either side of the bed and sold the rest as nightstands for $100 each.

I've got 2 or 3 of them frames laying around here, no wood left on em, think one of em still has most of the machine still on it. Got 3 or 4 of the old wringer washers too, not in great shape either, been outside for 50 years or so, not sure what to do with em all

Every quilt store my wife drags me to has one or more of these as decorations. Even in crap shape, they'd probably pay $25 - $50 for one.

singer sewing machine stand | eBay
I picked one up a few days ago in a burnt down house. The top burnt off, but the cast iron frame looks nice.
You can easily get $50 - $80 on ebay. Looks like some people put a granite top on it and sell it for a couple hundred as lawn art too.

It's funny because where I work has that exact machine which was donated in a lot better shape thoguh

My wife would kill me if I ever took one of those to a scrapyard...lol. She's a big sewing fanatic, so not just is it something she likes an knows about she knows their worth a bunch more then scrap value.
Sirscrapalot - Doesn't wanna die anytime soon so won't be scrapping any old sewing machines
