For me its anything that could possibly yield even the smallest amount of copper?
Yeah i know im terrible eh?

Love finding piping with fitting, they normally turn out to be brass fittings.
Any form of cable, its good to see the pile of copper building up at the end!

Having said that..^^^ I havent found anything good in a while, i have been given stuff, but not actually found it myself, too many people at it!

found some old blue/green canning jars and those brought real good money at the yard sale, women use them for decorating.

Like large brass anything. Love aluminum blinds and siding.

Thought I'd add to this thread Like you Scrapette I have a weakness for Brass. Maybe it's that golden color or perhaps because It is used in a lot of things and I seem to come across it often.

My favorite thing to pick up is anything that has resale value, but ever since the temps dropped here people are throwing away less and less things and there seems to be more people out picking things up, so now my favorite thing to pick up is anything that can add to the load.

Weight. Doesn't matter if it's copper, brass, aluminum, or iron. Just weight.

It's hard for HVAC companies to scrap them because they have to remove the refrigerant (or face like a $50,000 fine)...
I just snip them in the back yard, wait for the fizz to settle <<<

you might want to read about the laws concerning proper disposal of freon. and the consequences for not following those laws. you do know you need to be certified?
