Eclipse 2017

Well, I have been waiting for this day for almost 20 years. I had looked up future eclipses and saw that this total solar eclipse was going to occur and had decided it was my best change for seeing a total solar eclipse. I will be driving from SC NC TN GA borders to view. I had arranged for friends to put me up for a couple days in 2012. I am so excited to see this as I have been interested in astronomy since the his is a bucket list item and probably one of the most important list items.

Anyone else going to see the eclipse? Anyone else stoked to see it?

I can't remember if it was the one in '77 or the one in '79, but I remember thinking how I'd be really old when the next total solar eclipse came to the US.

The one in 2024 will be total right here at my house!

Yes, I see there is one in '24, too. If this is a bust due to weather, there may be travel plans. If it is cool enough, there may be travel plans.

Looking forward to it but also the annual peak of the Perseids is coming soon too!

I miss the night sky. I have to drive an hour east to get to dark skies, and the mosquitoes out there can suck a cow dry in ten minutes.

It's one of the reasons I moved to the desert to be able to gaze up at something other than clouds

If I'm still on this side of the dirt in 2045, I'll probably drive up to Oklahoma & see that one. I doubt I'll be around for any after that. Maaaaaybe 2052 in Florida...

Thanks for the map (Both you and Faceball). I thought the closest place was going to be OK. I grew up in NY and it looks like it will be pretty close to where I am from. 2024 will be on the calendar too. I will be 83 if I am still around in '45 (I have genealogy working for me and against me... but, I never believed growing up I would make it to 2000), it will go right over where I live in Fla. Hey, if we are both still around in '52, we will meet up for a burger and the best bottle of scotch we can afford and watch it together.

I haven't thought about it much but I should be able to see it here in Nashville Tn.

We wont see much here but I am going to be drinking these while I am watching....

Will be taking the chitlins and wife about an hour or so North.

Not much goes on here in ID, so i'm pretty stoked.

2078 to see it from my "porch". Ha! I'm stubborn enough to stick around an piss everybody off an live that long! An they saying be hard headed wouldn't pay off...pfft!



Funny enough...my Arizona driver license expires in 2042. It was issued in 2006. HA!

Yes. The path of totality is fairly narrow.
