better to sell vintage oil cans with oil still in them or empited..??

A friend of mine gave me 2 old boat motor oil "cans" (not round) to sell for him. Both are about half full. I hate to have an accident in the shipping so was thinking of emptying them out. I suspect that a full can would be worth more coin but these are already opened so I think that no longer counted. Anybody else selling or have sold old oil cans and your experiences?? Thanks!!

If the cans have already been opened, I would probably sell them as empty. A few years back, I did sell a vintage pint can of 'EDSEL' brake fluid for over $200, and shipped it full without incident via USPS. I packed it well, inside of a ziplok bag and marked the outside of box 'UP'. Good luck with yours...

Not sure...It was a few years ago, on another computer. If I find it, I'll post it on here.

Update: Both of the old outboard oil cans sold for my minimum asking price of $7.49 each on ebay. Two different buyers. Better than just throwing them away...
