    Garden Tractor

    Hello,

Scored a Craftsman 42" garden tractor.
    Has no deck,

Overall pretty good shape. Has a 5hp generic motor that I do not know if runs or not. Don't have the extra cash to spend on electric starter for it right now.

Thinking about pushing it out to the front yard and placing a FOR SALE sign on it.

Anyone know what this may be worth? I was thinking $75 to $50,, more toward $50 since it doesn't have a mowing deck.

It probably weighs anywhere from 150 to 250 pounds. So at most about $30 in scrap.

Scrap it or try and sell it?

Catfish you should be able to use a rope on the top of the flywheel to try and start it. I think you could also part it out and make more then scrap.

If it works, I'd turn it into a gocart. Get a lot more for it, if they go (gocarts) they are easy to sell as gocarts allways sell for what it costs to make them.(~$800)
    ie $100 a wheel & $100 rear axle & $300 a motor, theres $800 already.

Considering its all done & in one place & you can just jump onto it & have fun.
When you need the money, or have finished havin fun, sell it for $800 again.

I can just picture the poor kids face come Christmas morning with that 5 HP gocart sitting on the front lawn with a big bow on it!

people buy those for yard tractors pulling small carts and trailors, in fact Im looking for one right now. very handy in our line of work. $100 to $200 easy. also people race them, its big down here I have seen them with Harley motors v6s, with thousands in them. also you can speed them up by just switching drive pulleys. they are actually classed as golf or rvs here and legal to drive on county roads. country singer George Jones was once charged with drunk driving for trying to drive one to town drunk when his wife wouldnt let him have the car keys.
