Because someone doesn't want a bunch of bikes. Sell them for ten or twenty a piece... Whatever the market will bear.

You mean no one will want my pile of assorted bike rims and broken scooters? I guess you're right. Scrap is at $0.03 where I am, what do you think is a price that will attract re-sale attention but not result in a loss vs. scrap price?Originally Posted by t00nces2

Agreed- I see three or four adult bikes. I'm not in Ottawa, but I'd pay more than the $20 for a couple of them that the $100 divides out to be. But, the average person won't want that many. I was at a farm auction that literally had over 100 bikes. They auctioned them off individually a few times, selling one here, and two there, and then another one....
They then sold the rest (Still about 100) for $25. If I had a longer trailer, I would have bought them in a heartbeat. But, the first few people paid anywhere between $20 and $50 for each bicycle that they purchased.

I agree sell them for $20, I have sold a dozen or more in the last couple of years. People want everything working and cheap. I don't ever put anything into them other than a new tube from $0.99 store. Will rob parts from other bikes and then scrap what's left. Little kids bikes sell for $10 and adult bikes for $20. There are some old bikes that are worth a lot more, I always check a bike forum on those ones. I find bikes all the time in my dumpsters and a lot of the time it's just a flat tire with a nail, tack or some type of puncture, been riding and fixing bikes since I was 12, so easy money for me! Walmart sells them so cheap! Also anything with rust I just scrap!

find local yard sale groups on Facebook...list SEPARATELY (no one needs like 10 bikes) for $5-50/each depending on condition, type etc. They will sell like hotcakes if in good condition...if NOT good condition, those are a dime a dozen, so scrap them or donate.
I taught my son to buy and flip bikes at yard sales...he makes great money doing it (especially for 14)

bike resale is hard. i list kid bikes on the mom swap sites. only ever sold4-5. giving away a couple adult bikes to a brother in law. aficycle gets a couple a year

If, after trying all the suggestions posted by others, you are still left with some of the bikes/parts etc,, check them all for al you minium content. Its hard to tell from the pics, but i'd bet that some of the frames, wheels, pedal cranks, brake levers, etc etc are aluminum and therefore worth more than your area's ferrous payout. If you have the time/inclination, strip 'em down.

Give them to the Salvation Army, Goodwill, Whatever. Get a receipt and write off as a donation on your taxes. Done with them.

These should sell when the university and college students come back at the end of August. Lots of kids will want a beater bike that they'll just abandon when they leave at the end of the school year. (Probably how you accumulated some in the first place.) As has been mentioned above, just list them individually.

Lots of good suggestions listed here. Follow any combo of them and you'll probably do alright. And then you'll be armed better for next time
