    Printers - more than scrap

I usually take out the inks to recycle at Staple for $2 per cartridge and scrap the rest of printers. Well, I was actually at Staples to buy a new printer. As I was talking to the manager, he told me to recycle my old one for $50 off of a new one. I would have never seen that offer as it was in the fine print near one of the displays. It's a good thing I sorta know this manager as I frequent that store often. So $50 is much better than scrap.

That's fine if you have one printer anf your looking for a new one. I don't thing they will give you 50.00 ea. if you pulled in with 50 printers in your truck.

i was in the market for a printer anyways and found that i shouldn't smash just one printer. would be great if they gave $50 each, but its only one for one.

I would like the cost of the cheap ones, but my family needed wireless and i needed the fax part of it.

If Staples gives $50 off a printer, I wonder what they do with them. Maybe there is some intrinsic value in them we don't know about.

They probably have a rebate with printer makers to offset that $50, plus they will get to sell you a $.15 USB cable for $19.95 and make a killing on ink sales down the road as well. Most printers sold today are junk so its not like much money went inot making them.

A few months ago I got a $200 printer for $30 from staples.

    $200
    -$75 (sale)
    -$50 (printer turn in)
    -$20 (ink check)
    -$25 ($25 off $75 purchase coupon)

I think this is a great plan. I am going to see how much I can save off a printer then sell it brand new on Ebay or Craigs list. I can get rid of a printer some ink cartridges and get some money.

I have found that some HP printers have a weird gold pin/spring assembley on the inkjet cartridges contacts. So far I have found 3 sets & have saved the last & any more I do find.
